About the Role :
We are looking for an experienced SDET with strong expertise in Java programming, test automation, and backend application testing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing automation frameworks, validating REST APIs and microservices, and ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of complex software systems.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Java and tools such as Playwright, REST Assured, TestNG, and JUnit.
- Develop and execute automated test cases for backend applications, REST APIs, microservices, and web services.
- Perform API testing, integration testing, functional testing, regression testing, and end-to-end validation.
- Validate API requests and responses, HTTP status codes, authentication, error handling, business logic, and data consistency.
- Test interactions between distributed services to ensure correct communication, integration, and system behaviour.
- Design reusable automation components and utilities to improve test coverage, maintainability, and execution efficiency.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and reliable software releases.
- Identify, analyse, and troubleshoot defects by examining logs, test results, API responses, and application behaviour.
- Collaborate with developers, product teams, and QA engineers to investigate issues and ensure timely defect resolution.
- Participate in test planning, requirement analysis, code reviews, and technical discussions to identify quality risks early.
- Maintain test documentation, automation reports, defect records, and test coverage metrics.
- Continuously improve automation strategies, testing processes, and overall product quality.
Required Skills & Experience :
- 7 - 11 years of experience in software testing, test automation, or quality engineering.
- Strong hands-on programming experience in Java.
- Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), design principles, collections, exception handling, and core Java concepts.
- Experience with test automation frameworks such as Playwright, REST Assured, TestNG, JUnit, or equivalent tools.
- Strong expertise in REST API testing, backend validation, microservices architecture, and web services.
- Experience with functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end automation testing.
- Understanding of HTTP methods, status codes, request/response handling, authentication, and API error handling.
- Experience with debugging, defect tracking, root cause analysis, and test result analysis.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines for integrating and executing automated tests.
- Good understanding of software development and testing lifecycles.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams.
Good to Have :
- Experience with API automation libraries and tools such as Postman.
- Familiarity with SQL and database validation.
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-based testing environments.
- Experience with performance testing tools and distributed application testing.
