Job Description
Role Summary:
The Senior Director, Head of Marketing, Korea and Mongolia is the senior marketing leader responsible for managing Visa's marketing agenda holistically across both markets. Reporting to the JKM Head of Marketing VP, this role sets the market strategy and leads planning through execution across consumer, product, brand and client marketing. The role integrates media, social, experiences, events and sponsorships to strengthen Visa's brand, support client priorities and contribute to sustainable business growth.
The Senior Director provides clear direction, priorities and accountability. The role partners closely with multi-functional teams including Client Relationship Management, Visa Consulting and Analytics, Product and other functions to translate business and client needs into focused marketing programs for Korea and Mongolia.
Essential Functions:
- Own the end-to-end marketing strategy for Korea and Mongolia, aligning market priorities with JKM, Asia Pacific and global business and brand objectives.
- Translate strategy into integrated annual and multi-year plans across consumer, product, brand and client marketing, with clear priorities, investment choices, milestones and success measures.
- Lead execution across paid, owned and earned media, social channels, content, consumer experiences and events, ensuring consistent quality and market relevance.
- Set the sponsorship strategy and manage sponsorship selection, negotiation, activation, governance, rights utilization and performance across Korea and Mongolia.
- Partner closely with Client Relationship Management, Visa Consulting and Analytics, Product and other multi-functional teams to identify opportunities, shape propositions and deliver integrated programs that address business and client objectives.
- Lead client marketing strategy and execution, strengthening senior client relationships and ensuring commitments are realistic, aligned and delivered effectively.
- Manage and develop the Korea marketing team covering consumer, social and client marketing; establish clear accountabilities, build capability and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Represent Marketing in market leadership and cross-functional forums, providing a clear point of view and ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged at the right time.
- Use consumer, client, market and transaction insights to guide strategy, optimize programs and identify new growth opportunities.
- Define a measurement framework across brand, engagement and business outcomes; monitor performance and redirect resources based on evidence and learning.
- Manage budgets, agencies, partners and operational processes with strong financial discipline, governance and compliance.
- Anticipate market developments and reputational or execution risks, escalating issues early and driving timely resolution with relevant stakeholders.
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 15+ years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree
- Substantial leadership experience across integrated marketing disciplines, with demonstrated accountability for strategy, planning and execution.
- Experience leading teams and managing complex programs involving multiple functions, senior stakeholders, agencies and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 12 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree such as a Master's, MBA, JD, MD.
- Broad experience spanning consumer, brand, product and client marketing, including media, social, events and sponsorship activation.
- Strong understanding of the Korea market and experience working across Korea and Mongolia or within a comparable multi-market environment.
- Demonstrated ability to connect marketing strategy to client objectives, commercial priorities and measurable business outcomes.
- Proven people leadership, including setting direction, developing talent, managing performance and building an inclusive, accountable team culture.
- Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders and lead through ambiguity.
- Data-driven decision-making skills, including the ability to translate research, analytics and performance results into clear actions.
- Strong financial and operational management skills, including responsibility for material budgets, agencies, contracts, governance and program risk.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Korean; experience engaging stakeholders across regional and global teams is preferred.
- MBA or another relevant advanced degree is preferred.
