We are a bank that develops innovative solutions. How we build them is changing: AI tools and agents now do much of the construction, and the scarce skill is framing the problem precisely, specifying the solution, directing the tools, and owning the result.
We're looking for a Product Engineer to join our Technology, Product and Innovation division. You'll be an analytical thinker with an engineering mindset who turns ambiguous business problems into working, production-ready solutions. You'll do it largely by writing clear specifications and context that AI development tools execute against, within our internal AI development frameworks. You'll work mostly independently, taking problems from first question to production, and draw on a small group of experts when you need them. This is a fully on-site role based at our Athens office.
A background in software engineering is essential, as this role is about specifying product features precisely, directing AI to build them, and taking accountability for what ships.
What you will do
- Take a business problem from vague to precise: ask the right questions, uncover the real need, map the process, data and rules involved, and define what “done” looks like.
- Write clear, structured specifications (requirements, constraints, acceptance criteria, edge cases and failure scenarios) that AI tools and agents can execute reliably.
- Direct AI tools through prototyping, building, testing and documenting, and iterate quickly from idea to working proof.
- Validate outcomes rather than code: define test scenarios up front, confirm the solution behaves correctly against them, and recognize when results don't match intent.
- Anticipate the exceptions: unusual data, failure modes, integration issues and regulatory edge cases that the happy path never covers.
- Know when to escalate. Bring in security, architecture, platform or domain experts at the right moment instead of working around gaps.
- Take solutions through to production and keep improving them using real usage, data and feedback.
- Present your work with confidence: explain solutions, trade-offs and results to colleagues, senior stakeholders and wider audiences, in meetings, demos and internal forums.
- Work within our internal AI development frameworks, standards and guardrails, applying them consistently and feeding back what you learn so they improve.
- Collaborate closely with a small number of experts across product, risk, operations and engineering, while driving execution yourself.
- Adapt as priorities shift: pick up new projects, join new teams and hand over your work cleanly, with documentation others can build on, as projects change and team members rotate.
Requirements
What we are looking for
Essential
- A university degree in engineering. You understand how systems, data and integrations fit together and can reason about how they fail.
- Strong command of C# and .NET, plus solid SQL and data modelling.
- A firm grasp of system design: APIs, distributed systems, concurrency and security fundamentals.
- Testing discipline, CI/CD, and experience running systems in production, including observability and incident handling.
- Daily, hands-on use of AI coding agents, and a clear view of where they go wrong.
- Fluency in English, written and spoken.
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, with the confidence to present to groups and senior audiences.
- Strong social and interpersonal skills. You build relationships quickly and communicate comfortably with technical and non-technical colleagues alike.
- A track record of delivering complex solutions or projects from concept to production, in any technical or analytical setting.
Thinking
- Strong analytical and structured-thinking skills. You break down ambiguous problems, test assumptions and make pragmatic decisions.
- Excellent written communication. You can express intent, logic and constraints precisely enough that someone, or something, else can execute them.
- Sound judgment on risk, quality and trade-offs, and the instinct to spot what's missing or wrong in a solution.
Working style
- Evidence of working with AI tools or agentic workflows, and the ability to learn and operate quickly within a defined framework and its controls.
- High ownership and autonomy. You drive execution end to end without close direction.
- Strong teamwork. You work well with a few experts at a time, share knowledge openly and put the team's outcome ahead of individual credit.
- Agility. You're comfortable when requirements start incomplete, projects change direction and teams rotate, and you get productive quickly with new colleagues and new problems.
- Curiosity about how AI is changing the way work gets done, balanced by discipline in following the framework.
Nice to have: experience in banking, payments or other regulated environments; experience with data, integrations or process automation; prototypes or projects you built that went somewhere.
How we work
AI is how we build, not what we do. We are a bank, and we use AI across the lifecycle to deliver innovative solutions faster and to take on more than one person could before. That means knowing how and when to use it, how to give it the right context and constraints, and how to judge what comes back. We use AI within our own corporate frameworks, which set the standards for security, compliance and quality. Your job is to apply them well, not work around them. Human judgment stays critical where it matters most: defining the problem, setting the rules, and deciding what is safe to ship.
Our projects and teams evolve, and so will your work. We value people who adapt quickly, collaborate openly and keep things moving as the picture changes.
You are not defined by a layer of the technology stack. You own the problem, the decisions and the outcome.
Where you'll work
This is an on-site role at our Athens office. We do not offer remote or work-from-home arrangements. Working side by side with a small group of experts is central to how we deliver, so please apply only if on-site work suits you.
