What you’ll do

We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused Field Engineer to help deliver excellent service across Scottish Power's strategic telecommunications network throughout Scotland, including interfaces with the SSEN and National Grid telecommunications networks. This role supports Vodafone's ongoing managed service partnership and plays a key part in ensuring network reliability and performance.

You will provide professional field engineering support across both service delivery and assurance activities, contributing to the successful operation and maintenance of critical utility infrastructure. The role includes participation in a 24/7/365 support and maintenance service, helping to respond to network issues and carry out planned maintenance activities.

• Working closely with project engineers and wider delivery teams, you will support the successful implementation of projects and operational activities, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and customer experience are maintained.
• Support the successful delivery of projects, ensuring work is completed in line with agreed timelines, budgets, quality standards, and health & safety requirements, while adhering to Vodafone and customer engineering standards.
• Complete project documentation accurately and on time, providing support to Project Engineers and wider delivery teams.
• Monitor project progress against agreed plans and contribute ideas and solutions to help keep delivery on track.
• Identify potential issues, dependencies, and risks, escalating them appropriately and supporting effective resolution.
• Communicate clearly and proactively with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout project delivery.
• Assist in delivering technical, testing, and quality activities in accordance with agreed project requirements.
• Maintain accurate project records and undertake necessary administrative tasks to support successful delivery.
• Collaborate with colleagues across teams to drive positive customer outcomes and continuous improvement.

What you are

• Experience in telecommunications, networking, field engineering, maintenance, commissioning, or related technical environments.
• Knowledge of IP networking technologies, including WAN, LAN, routing, switching, and MPLS, or a willingness to develop expertise in these areas.
• Experience supporting, installing, or maintaining telecommunications infrastructure, such as SDH, PDH, Comtel, Microwave Radio, or similar technologies.
• Familiarity with networking solutions and equipment, including Cisco, Alcatel, or comparable platforms.
• Strong organisational, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to adapt in a dynamic environment.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and other digital collaboration tools.
• A commitment to quality, safety, continuous improvement, and delivering excellent customer outcomes. Training and support will be provided to obtain Scottish Power work authorisations where required.
