The EV infrastructure partner fleets trust. Voltera builds and operates strategically located charging hubs with guaranteed uptime and simple deployment.

Our collective future depends on carbon-free transportation. To forge that future, Voltera develops, owns, and operates the infrastructure that enables companies to succeed at scale with zero-emission vehicles. We’re looking for innovative, people-first team members who understand that culture is critical in our effort to positively impact the world’s transition to a carbon-free transportation future.

Voltera is seeking a Security & EHS Operations Manager to lead day-to-day security and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) operations across all of Voltera’s workplace and commercial locations nationwide. This is a hands-on, full-time role, not a purely strategic one: you will directly supervise the Security Desk and embedded security staff, own the technology that runs physical security day to day, and build out the data and reporting function that gives leadership visibility into both programs.

You should be comfortable working hands-on with security-specific technology and systems on a daily basis, and equally comfortable managing the outsourced EHS expertise that supports workplace safety and the environmental requirements that come with operating EV charging sites. You don’t need to be the technical EHS expert yourself; you need to understand the requirements well enough to manage that vendor relationship and make sure its guidance translates into real execution on the ground. This role also partners closely with the teams supporting a site’s full development lifecycle - Real Estate, Development, and Construction - with People Operations and Workplace teams supporting Voltera’s distributed worker base, and with customer security and safety teams at partner locations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Security Operations

  • Directly supervise 24/7 Security Desk operations, including scheduling, performance, and day-to-day direction of embedded security staff.
  • Own and operate Voltera’s core security technology stack nationwide - access control & badging systems, video management systems (VMS), and visitor management systems - including user provisioning, credentialing, and system health.
  • Coordinate incident response, investigations, and post-incident reporting across all locations.
  • Manage third-party physical security consulting engagements, including scope, deliverables, and program design and execution.
  • Evaluate and expand security coverage models - embedded staffing, technology, and patrol - as new and newly acquired sites come online.
  • Own security-related vendor budgets, invoicing, and SOW/PO administration.

Data & Reporting (Security + EHS)

  • Own the data and reporting function for both security and EHS programs, building and maintaining the metrics, dashboards, and reporting cadence leadership uses to track both - pulling in vendor-supplied data as a key input.
  • Serve as the source of truth for security and EHS KPIs - incidents, access activity, audit findings, and vendor performance - across the nationwide portfolio.
  • Standardize status reporting and escalation flags so open issues in either function surface quickly.

Work Order & Vendor Coordination (Security + EHS)

  • Issue and manage work orders for security device service calls - access control, cameras, visitor management hardware, and alarm systems - through Voltera’s CMMS.
  • Issue and manage work orders for safety and environmental equipment inspections and servicing - fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, eyewash stations, AEDs, spill kits, and similar life-safety and environmental equipment.
  • Coordinate with the Facilities team on incidents that require facility repairs - damaged doors, gates, locks, or other physical damage resulting from a security or EHS event.
  • Manage vendor relationships and SLAs for security and EHS equipment maintenance, inspection, and repair, tracking completion alongside other security and EHS KPIs.

EHS Operations

  • Own and manage the vendor relationship and platform - Voltera’s primary source of EHS technical expertise - and lead its expansion to commercial sites nationwide.
  • Serve as the operational point of contact for EHS-specific vendors and software tools, translating their technical guidance into day-to-day execution across the portfolio.
  • Partner with EHS vendors to maintain compliance with OSHA and applicable state/local workplace safety regulations across all workplace and commercial locations.
  • Leverage vendor expertise to manage environmental compliance requirements across the portfolio - hazardous materials handling, spill prevention and control (SPCC) plans, stormwater management, and environmental permitting related to charging equipment, battery storage, and backup power systems - ensuring vendor recommendations are implemented on the ground.
  • Coordinate with EHS vendors to develop and maintain emergency response, site evacuation, and spill/hazmat response plans, and lead staff training and drills.
  • Lead safety and environmental incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action tracking, pulling in vendor expertise where technical review is needed.
  • Coordinate recurring safety and environmental compliance audits and risk assessments nationwide, partnering with EHS vendors on technical assessment and ensuring findings are tracked to closure.

Program Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with the Real Estate, Development, and Construction teams across a site’s full development lifecycle - from pre-development through construction and into operations - to plan security and EHS requirements at each phase.
  • Design and manage an integrated guarding strategy that makes the best use of vendor resources across project phases, from construction-site security through steady-state operational coverage.
  • Partner with customer security teams at partner and host locations to improve information sharing and operational efficiencies.
  • Partner with People Operations and Workplace teams to ensure safe and secure working environments for Voltera’s distributed worker base.
  • Partner with Facilities, Charging Operations, and the Operations Program Team to align security and EHS coverage with site activity.
  • Support the evaluation of embedded security staff.
  • Represent security and EHS in planning for new site activation, portfolio expansion, and integration of newly acquired locations.
  • Manage department budget across CapEx, OpEx, and SG&A in partnership with Director and Finance.

MUST-HAVE:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in physical security operations, with EHS experience also valued - ideally across a multi-site, nationwide commercial or industrial environment.
  • Hands-on, day-to-day proficiency with access control & badging systems, video management systems (VMS), and visitor management systems is required.
  • Experience directly supervising 24/7 security desk or similar operations, including embedded or outsourced staff.
  • Comfortable and adept working with security-specific technology; quick to learn new systems and platforms.
  • Working familiarity with OSHA and environmental compliance concepts sufficient to manage an EHS vendor relationship and oversee program execution; deep technical EHS expertise is not required, as this is supported by an outsourced EHS partner.
  • Experience managing outsourced technical vendors or consultants and translating their guidance into operational execution.
  • Experience building or owning reporting/data functions - dashboards, KPIs, and recurring status reporting.
  • Strong vendor management, budgeting, and invoice reconciliation skills.
  • Experience issuing and tracking work orders through a CMMS, and coordinating with Facilities teams on repair needs stemming from security or EHS incidents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and present to leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Strong independent organizational and communication skills - comfortable operating with minimal day-to-day oversight across a distributed, nationwide team.
  • Ability to travel to sites nationwide as needed.

NICE-TO-HAVE:

  • GSOC (Global Security Operations Center) experience or alarm monitoring software experience.
  • Certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional), CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or OSHA 30.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms.
  • Experience operating in a high-growth or M&A integration environment.
  • Experience in EV, energy, or critical infrastructure industries.

LOCATION: Remote (U.S.-based), with up to 25% travel required.
