Development Manager

We are seeking an experienced Development Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable, high-availability enterprise applications. This role combines strong technical leadership with people management, ensuring engineering excellence, timely delivery, and continuous improvement across the software development lifecycle. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Java-based backend systems, distributed architectures, and Agile software development, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and quality.

Responsibilities:

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
• Drive end-to-end delivery of software projects, ensuring quality, scalability, and timely execution.
• Provide technical leadership in designing and developing distributed, event-driven, and microservices-based applications.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, QA, DevOps, and SRE teams to define technical solutions and delivery plans.
• Review system architecture, application design, and code to ensure adherence to engineering best practices.
• Champion engineering excellence through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, performance optimisation, and secure coding practices.
• Drive Agile delivery by managing sprint planning, execution, estimations, and release commitments.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks, remove delivery impediments, and ensure predictable project execution.
• Support production stability by driving root cause analysis, performance tuning, and continuous operational improvements.
• Recruit, coach, and develop engineering talent while promoting continuous learning and career growth.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 15+ years of software development experience, with at least 3+ years in an Engineering or Development Manager role.
• Strong experience building scalable backend applications usingJavaandSpring Boot
• Hands-on experience with Kafka, multithreading/concurrency, and distributed systems.
• Strong database expertise with Oracle PL/SQLand relational database design.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex enterprise software projects.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools.
• Experience in performance tuning, scalability, and high-availability systems.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure software development.
• Experience working in highly regulated or mission-critical enterprise environments.
