Engineering Manager

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a Scrum team of 10-15 engineers across backend, frontend, QA, and AI/ML disciplines, owning delivery, quality, and team health.
• Champion hexagonal architecture (ports and adapters) across services, ensuring domain logic remains decoupled from persistence, messaging, and external integrations.
• Drive engineering delivery across Java-based backend services, Python-based AI pipelines, event-driven Kafka systems, and modern data layers (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB).
• Foster an AI-native engineering culture integrating scoring systems, MCP tools, and agentic platform patterns into everyday development practices.
• Establish and continuously improve engineering best practices, including clean service boundaries, schema-first API design, CI/CD quality gates, and observability standards.
• Mentor and coach engineers consistently, acting as a strong technical and career guide.
• Define and support career growth paths, skill development, and a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
• Conduct performance evaluations and drive meaningful growth conversations.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, AI/ML engineers, platform architects, and design teams to plan and deliver in an Agile environment.
• Align engineering execution with broader platform strategy and business outcomes.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment with evolving priorities and cross-team dependencies.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in people management roles.
• Strong backend expertise in Java (Spring Boot 3x), with the ability to guide architecture decisions and unblock teams.
• Hands-on experience building services using hexagonal architecture (ports and adapters), including domain isolation and adapter-driven integrations.
• Experience working with modern data and messaging systems such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB, and Kafka.
• Proven experience building and operating large-scale SaaS platforms on AWS (EKS, MSK/Kafka, Elasticsearch, Redis/Aerospike).
• Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including service boundaries, data consistency, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience leading teams delivering high-quality microservices in Agile/Scrum environments.
