Role summary:The Staff, Software Engineer plays a critical role in delivering scalable platform capabilities and driving the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance. About the team:
The International DE Search Browse team plays a central role in enhancing the shopping experience by enabling customers to find relevant products efficiently across Walmart’s global eCommerce platforms. This team develops scalable, intelligent, and customer-focused features spanning search, browse, relevance, and personalization. Operating in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, the team emphasizes innovation, quality, and data-driven decision-making. Members apply expertise in software design, API development, and cloud-native architecture to deliver high-impact solutions that support Walmart’s commitment to excellence and continuous improvement worldwide.
What you'll do:
- Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
- Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
- Lead system design reviews to validate quality and alignment with architectural standards.
- Build AI-driven applications and integrate ML components using multiple programming languages.
- Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering excellence through continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across teams to define technical requirements and track success metrics using data-driven practices.
What you'll bring:
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Experience driving full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Ability to analyze complex problems and apply data-driven decision making to optimize engineering processes and outcomes.
- Demonstrated skills in debugging, remedial action, and continuous improvement to enhance code quality and system reliability.
- Effective collaboration and communication skills to engage stakeholders and mentor engineering teams.
- Adaptability to evolving technologies and changing business priorities with sound technical judgment.

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00 - $286,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
