Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Supports the oversight of driver performance and behaviors. Enforces adherence to safety standards, corporate policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations in the area of transportation safety management. Reduces risks, costs, and exposure to the organization. Partners with internal and external subject-matter experts to guide the development of regulatory compliance programs, operating procedures, and guidelines. Communicates with regional teams to provide direction on compliant work environments. Establishes training programs to ensure high-risk areas are addressed in policies and procedures. Updates Walmart operating procedures based on changes in government regulations. Establishes relationships with members of the governing authorities to interpret requirements and ensures requirements are understood, communicated, and implemented to support operations. Provides ongoing safety training to drivers and staff.

Supports daily fleet safety office operations. Monitors fleet performance related to transportation safety and compliance. Ensures adherence to local, state, and federal laws and regulations (for example, DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, PHMSA). Prepares reviews and safety-related documentation and reports. Maintains files for driver qualifications, safety training, and inspections. Monitors driver safety compliance dashboards and record-keeping (for example, hours-of-service records, driver qualification documents) to ensure compliance with safety standards, corporate policies, and applicable laws and regulations. Partners with internal and external subject-matter experts to implement regulatory compliance requirements, programs, operating procedures, and guidelines to support safe operations.

Conducts collision and injury investigations for subrogation. Ensures comprehensive gathering, presentation, and preservation of all relevant evidence and information to reduce financial impacts to the company using data collection modes, data analytics, visualization tools, digital applications, technology trends, data governance, and data science technologies. Actively supports operations managers in preparing for legal proceedings, including in-person depositions, to protect the company's interests. Presents evidence, provides expert testimony, and ensures that all relevant information is accurately conveyed to support the company's position and mitigate potential liabilities. Provides support by analyzing business objectives and driver risks and needs. Develops, communicates, builds support for, and implements driver safety strategies, plans, and practices. Analyzes accident and injury costs and risk exposure, incorporating them into business plans. Determines and supports resource requirements. Evaluates operational processes. Measures outcomes to ensure desired results. Identifies and capitalizes on driver safety through accident and injury improvement opportunities. Manages risks, safeguards people and assets, and ensures compliance with safety and transportation regulations.

Supports Operations Managers with active collision and injury responses. Responsible for on-call accident and injury response (24/7/365). Works with all regulatory on-scene agencies, including law enforcement, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazmat officials, and the fire department.

Leads the implementation of accident and injury prevention programs by designing policies, procedures, continuous improvement programs, and metrics implementing safety technologies. Supports operational driver safety and equipment audits. Analyzes accident and injury costs to ensure adequate safety programs are in place to reduce risks, costs, and exposure to the company. Supports regional safety programs for fleet drivers and transportation maintenance garages by ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws, Department of Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration programs. Implements and audits procedures to improve safety metrics by reducing preventable accidents and injuries. Reduces overall costs and ensures compliance. Creates and measures operational safety metrics. Provides guidance on correction of errors. Conducts follow-up with management to ensure compliance.

Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; building accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning.

Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and promoting a belonging mindset in the workplace.

Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.

The annual salary range for this position is $65,500.00 - $98,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
