The Opportunity:

The Animal Technician 3 - Large Animal Hospital will assist students, faculty, house officers, and technical staff during examination, diagnostic procedures, work-up, treatment, induction, anesthesia, surgery and recovery of animals of large animal patients under emergency and routine hospital care. Assist in all aspects of patient care including feeding, maintaining hospital cleanliness, and observing animals for sickness or abnormalities. Receive and discharge patients to designated clients or their representative. Maintain case log database for callbacks, fiscal estimates and final bills, RDVM information, and case numbers.

Position hours: Evening and weekend hours required after training period.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time (100% FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime eligible.

Monthly Salary: $3,485 to $4,633| Range 38 | Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications

• Two years of experience as an Animal Technician 2; OR equivalent education/experience.

• 2 years of experience working with animals, hands on. Up to 1 year can be replaced with relevant coursework such as a veterinary assistant certificate or animal science degree.

• Equine positions must be filled by individuals with hands on equine experience.

• Ability to work 40-hours/week for 100% positions and 36-hours/week for 90% positions.

• Must passWSUradiation safety training exam first time it is available.

• Must be able to wear a respirator; either full mask, half mask, or aPAPR.

• Ability to work a variable shift that may include 10-hour shifts and/or weekends, overnights and evenings.

• Must have, or be able to obtain, at time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance withSPPM7.10 and departmental driving standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 years hands on experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinic.

• Experience with restraint of species within specific service

• Experience with specific service applying for

• Experience with diagnostics, anesthesia (induction/recovery), or procedures

• Experience cleaning, stocking, and general hospital operations

• Experience working with electronic medical records
