We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Lead Java Developer to drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable, cloud-agnostic and cloud-native solutions across GCP and AWS. This role combines deep technical knowledge in Java (JDK 17+) development with strategic oversight, ensuring robust, secure, and high-performing systems. You will lead developer teams, create low level design based on the solution architectures, and collaborate with stakeholders and business analysts to align technology with business goals. Key Responsibilities •Design, build, and maintain backend features and services across DrinkPrime’s core platform using Java and Spring Boot. •Hands-on coding and code review to maintain the highest standards of code quality and performance. •Design, develop, and optimize database solutions using SQL, Spring, and relational/NoSQL databases, ensuring performance, security, and data integrity. •Design and implement cloud-native solutions on AWS and GCP, ensuring interoperability, high availability, resilience, and cost efficiency. •Design and implement secure authentication mechanisms (e.g., token-based auth, secure session handling, credential hashing) •Provision and manage infrastructure using Terraform (IaC) across multi-cloud environments. •Collaborate with architects, engineers, DevOps, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable backend solutions. •Write and maintain automated tests for new and changed code, prioritising the system’s highest-risk areas. •Guide, mentor, and review the work of the engineering team, review pull requests from junior developers, with particular attention to whether AI-assisted code has actually been checked against requirements and edge cases. •Work with messaging (RabbitMQ) and API gateway (Kong) tooling as services are decoupled from the monolith. •Participate in requirements walkthroughs and push for a written spec before development starts, flagging edge cases and negative scenarios early. •Collaborate with the Test Lead to ensure new features are testable and properly covered before release. •Take part in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning, providing effort and risk input before commitments are made.

Required Skills Core Java

• Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 11 & 17+).

Preferred Qualifications •Prior experience incrementally extracting services from a monolith (strangler-fig pattern or similar). •Exposure to Kubernetes/Helm-based deployments and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins or Bitbucket Pipelines). •Familiarity with observability tooling (Grafana, Sentry) and using it to diagnose production issues. •Experience mentoring junior developers or leading small feature teams. •Domain exposure to field-service, workforce scheduling, or subscription/logistics platforms.

Requirements

Requirements BE/BTech/Mtech/MCA degree in Computer Science or related field. Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in Java backend development. Experience with database design and optimization (SQL and/or NoSQL databases). Strong knowledge of Java, Spring framework, and related technologies. Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
