In 2017, over half the population in Sub-Saharan Africa had no bank account. That's for good reason-the fees are too high, the closest branch can be miles away, and nobody takes cards. Without access to financial institutions, people are forced to keep their savings under the mattress. Small business owners rely on lenders who charge extortionate rates. Parents spend hours waiting in line to pay school fees in cash.

We're solving this by building financial services that just work: no account fees, instantly available, and accepted everywhere. In places where electricity, water and roads don't always work, you can still send money with Wave. In 2017, we launched a mobile app in Senegal for cash deposit, withdrawal, and peer-to-peer and business payments. Now, we have millions of users across 9 countries and are growing fast.

How you'll help us achieve it

We’re looking for a Field Auditor who’s resourceful and excited about getting things done. You will be responsible for monitoring the facilities and activities of our premium agencies network on an ongoing basis, identifying weaknesses to help operational staff better prevent business risks, and providing us with relevant data to help improve performance and achieve company targets.

In this role, you’ll; 

• Travel to designated premium agencies regularly.
• Carry out cash audits and report any shortcomings in our agent network.
• Investigate discrepancies to identify their causes and provide appropriate training to the relevant agents.
• Follow up on the reimbursement of debts at the conclusion of audits, with input from field officers, the recovery team, and other field operations teams.
• Carry out all controls in the control plan and ensure everything is done properly.
• Contribute to updating the security risk map by sharing information about potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to updating the operational risk map by providing information that will help to ensure its accuracy and comprehensiveness.
• Train cashiers on procedures relating to their activities.
• Boost awareness of fraud among premium agent staff and the premium cash officer.
• Investigate operational and other incidents occurring in premium agencies and at other agent types.
• Carry out end-of-year cash inventories.
• Participate in risk analysis before constructing any new premium agency or premium master agency.
• Participate in risk analysis related to specific projects.
• Ensure premium agency staff comply with the code of conduct and management instructions.
• Ensure that agents and the staff who manage them understand and respect the code of conduct and management.
• Participate in risk analysis before providing prefinancing to a new agent.
• Other administrative tasks may be assigned from time to time.

Key details

• Location: North, Grand North, Extreme North - You'll work in the field, visiting the network, and may travel to different locations.
• Work authorization in Cameroon is required.
• This is a 6-month contract position.
• Our salaries are competitive and calculated using a transparent formula.

Requirements

• Fluency in French and good command of English; fluency in the local languages is a strong plus.
• 2+ years of university-level experience in Finance/Accounting. 
• Have dealt with high cash volume.
• Good knowledge of Google Sheets.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience assessing service quality or conducting surveys/data collection is a strong plus.
