Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. We think deeply and solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. You will:
- Collaborate with the team to analyze experiment results, document findings, and help integrate the most successful strategies into production
- Prototype scheduling algorithms aimed at smoothing out computational load
- Run benchmarks to analyze the speed, throughput and resource efficiency of related systems, and specific implementations
You have:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- Solid foundation in computer science fundamentals, particularly in data structures & algorithms
- Strong software development skills with proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., C++, Java, Python) and SQL. Desire to learn and work extensively in C++
- Familiarity with or strong interest in foundational concepts related to distributed systems, data processing pipelines, or operating systems
- Familiarity with statistical concepts necessary for interpreting large datasets
We prefer:
- Strong general coding skills and the ability to write robust software. C++ proficiency is a strong plus
- Experience or coursework related to distributed systems, operating systems (specifically task scheduling), or data processing pipelines.
- Familiarity with software profiling and benchmarking
- Experience working with large datasets and utilizing data analysis tools to evaluate system performance.
