SDE 3 Backend Engineer

We are looking for an experienced SDE 3 Backend Engineer to design, develop, and scale high-performance backend systems and services. This is a senior individual contributor role for an engineer who can take ownership of complex backend problems, contribute to architectural decisions, and build reliable systems that support business-critical applications.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Backend Development and Backend Engineering, with hands-on experience building scalable APIs, distributed services, data-intensive applications, and production-grade systems. You will work closely with product, frontend, infrastructure, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver robust and maintainable solutions.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and highly available backend services and applications.
• Build robust RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend components that can handle high-volume traffic and complex business requirements.
• Take ownership of backend features from requirement analysis and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Participate in system architecture and technical design discussions, contributing to scalable and sustainable engineering solutions.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and improve application performance, scalability, reliability, and resource utilization.
• Design efficient data models and work with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Write clean, maintainable, well-tested, and production-ready code following engineering best practices.
• Develop automated unit, integration, and functional tests to ensure application quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement long-term fixes.
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, QA engineers, DevOps, and other stakeholders to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Conduct code reviews and provide constructive technical feedback to improve code quality and engineering standards.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and contribute to improving development processes and technical practices.
• Stay updated with modern backend technologies, engineering practices, and architectural patterns.

Must-Have Skills

• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Java, Python, Go, Node.js, or C#.
• Strong experience building scalable APIs, microservices, and distributed backend systems.
• Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and software engineering principles.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL/MySQL and/or NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, DynamoDB, or Redis.
• Strong understanding of API design, authentication, authorization, caching, concurrency, and system scalability.
• Experience working with cloud platforms and modern deployment environments.
• Good understanding of CI/CD, version control, logging, monitoring, and production debugging.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to independently handle complex technical challenges.

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience designing highly distributed and fault-tolerant systems.
• Knowledge of message queues and event-driven architectures such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar technologies.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native architectures.
• Exposure to system design and large-scale application architecture.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.

Experience & Qualifications

• 5-8 years of professional experience in backend development/engineering.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Strong track record of delivering production-grade backend applications and services.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
