What’s Information Security Cloud Engineering in our Technology Division? Wellmark is building innovative, modern solutions using cutting edge technology. What projects might I support? Although subject to change, examples of projects you will be contributing to include:
- Develop cloud migration security controls, ensuring the deployment of new applications to the cloud follows Wellmark’s security standards.
- Script automated controls to monitor cloud security,
- Build reporting tools, obtaining coding data and analyzing to understand and craft recommendations
- Support the creation and document flow for technology identity access management team
- Gather requirements by asking thoughtful questions, clarifying needs, and maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Analyze current usage reports and develop data management scripts and structures that bring information together to support reporting and decision-making.

This internship will start in May of 2027, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines.
- Current junior, senior or Master’s pursing a Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Data Analytics, MIS, or related field
- Knowledge of software development technologies (NodeJS, Angular, .NET, MongoDB, SQL).
- General understanding of the domains of programming/scripting, computer science, and management information systems.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills. Accuracy and high attention to detail and self-starter.
- Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative technical solutions.
- Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office products.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Prior work experience in an office environment or internship
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra/Azure
