ROLE OVERVIEW
The Business Development Director is a key member of the global Park IP Commercial team, responsible for driving revenue growth through new business acquisition, strategic account expansion, and long-term client partnerships. This role focuses on identifying opportunities within the Intellectual Property (IP), Legal Services, and related technology sectors while positioning Park IP's solutions as a trusted partner for corporate legal departments and law firms.
The successful candidate will own the full sales lifecycle-from prospecting and pipeline generation through negotiation and closing-while working closely with Operations, Solutions, Project Management, and Executive Leadership to deliver exceptional customer experiences. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strategic thinking, commercial acumen, and the ability to influence stakeholders across a global organization.
Travel will be required to support client meetings, industry events, and business development activities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive new business growth by identifying, qualifying, and closing opportunities within assigned territories and target markets.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve or exceed annual revenue and pipeline targets.
- Manage the complete sales cycle, from prospecting through contract negotiation and closing.
- Generate a qualified pipeline through outbound prospecting, networking, referrals, industry events, and existing relationships.
- Identify opportunities to expand business within existing client accounts through cross-selling and upselling initiatives.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key decision-makers across corporate legal departments, law firms, and other target organizations.
- Understand client business challenges and position Park IP's solutions to address their strategic objectives.
- Act as the primary commercial point of contact throughout the sales process, ensuring a high-quality client experience.
- Collaborate with Operations, Program Directors, Project Managers, and Solution teams to develop tailored proposals, Statements of Work (SOWs), Requests for Proposal (RFPs), pricing, and commercial solutions.
- Partner with the global commercial team to define value propositions, sales strategies, and service offerings that support business growth.
- Provide market intelligence, competitive insights, and customer feedback to support product and commercial strategy.
- Maintain accurate opportunity management, forecasting, and pipeline reporting within Salesforce.
- Deliver reliable 30-, 60-, and 90-day sales forecasts and provide regular updates on sales performance and business opportunities.
- Monitor market trends and identify emerging opportunities within the IP, Legal Services, and technology sectors.
- Represent Park IP at industry conferences, client meetings, and networking events to strengthen brand awareness and generate new business opportunities.
- Promote Park IP's expertise, technology, and value proposition within the legal and intellectual property markets.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive experience in Business Development, Sales, or Account Management within the Legal Services, Intellectual Property (IP), eDiscovery, Litigation, Legal Technology, SaaS, or Legal Translation/Localization industries.
- Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding sales quotas and revenue targets.
- Demonstrated success in identifying, developing, and closing complex enterprise sales opportunities.
- Experience managing both new business acquisition and strategic account growth.
- Experience working within multinational or global organizations is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Strong experience using Salesforce or another enterprise CRM platform.
- Comfortable preparing commercial proposals, pricing, Statements of Work (SOWs), and responding to RFPs.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and overall digital proficiency.
