Director, Banking (Risk & Regulatory)

West Monroe is seeking a Director to help build and lead our Risk & Regulatory capabilities within the Banking practice. This leader will advise financial institutions on evolving enterprise risks, with a primary focus on technology and data risk and growing considerations related to artificial intelligence. The Director will combine banking risk expertise, technology fluency, and consulting leadership to help clients strengthen risk management while enabling innovation and transformation. This role will also shape our market offerings, originate client opportunities, and develop the teams and capabilities needed to grow the discipline. 

What You Will Do  

Client Delivery  

• Advise banking executives and risk leaders on enterprise technology and data risk, including governance, controls, risk assessment, regulatory expectations, and transformation. 
• Help clients identify and manage emerging risks associated with AI, data, technology modernization, third-party ecosystems, automation, and evolving digital capabilities. 
• Connect technology and data risks to broader enterprise and operational risk frameworks, translating complex issues into practical actions for business, risk, and technology leaders. 
• Lead complex risk and regulatory engagements, overseeing strategy, approach, teams, quality, financial performance, and executive stakeholder relationships. 
• Apply knowledge of traditional banking risk and regulatory expectations to develop pragmatic solutions that balance risk management, compliance, and business objectives. 
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs. 
• Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes. 

Business Development  

• Build executive relationships and originate opportunities related to technology risk, data risk, AI risk, enterprise risk, and regulatory transformation. 
• Shape differentiated solutions and lead pursuits from opportunity identification through proposal development and close. 
• Identify emerging banking risk priorities and translate market needs into new offerings and client conversations. 
• Build West Monroe’s presence in the market through executive relationships, industry participation, and thought leadership. 

Practice Development  

• Build and scale West Monroe’s Banking Risk & Regulatory discipline, with particular emphasis on enterprise technology, data, and emerging risk. 
• Define offerings, methodologies, accelerators, and points of view that differentiate West Monroe in the market. 
• Build connectivity across Banking, Technology, Data, Cybersecurity, and AI capabilities to deliver integrated risk solutions. 
• Recruit, mentor, and develop practitioners while building a strong community of risk expertise across the firm. 

What You Will Bring  

• 12+ years of relevant consulting, banking, risk, or regulatory experience, including experience advising financial institutions. 
• Deep expertise in enterprise technology risk and/or data risk within banking or financial services. 
• Strong understanding of banking risk management, governance, controls, regulatory expectations, and the three lines model. 
• Experience addressing emerging risks associated with AI, data, technology transformation, cloud, automation, or other evolving technologies. 
• Ability to connect technical risk topics to enterprise risk, regulatory requirements, and business strategy for executive audiences. 
• Demonstrated experience building capabilities, offerings, or teams and bringing new solutions to market. 
• Proven ability to originate opportunities, develop executive relationships, lead pursuits, and contribute to revenue growth. 
• Experience leading complex engagements and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining quality and client outcomes. 
• Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs. 
• Ability to travel 25 to 50%.

Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here.  Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale.

Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Eligibility for ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available upon hire date.
