Managing Director, Healthcare & Life Sciences  

West Monroe is seeking a Managing Director to help lead and grow our Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. This executive will advise senior leaders across healthcare and life sciences on their most critical strategic and transformation priorities, build enduring client relationships, and create meaningful business impact. The Managing Director will be accountable for growing strategic accounts, originating new business, shaping differentiated market offerings, and developing the leaders and capabilities that support the continued growth of the practice. 

We support the full HCLS value chain across payers, providers, medtech, biopharma, digital health, and other healthcare and life sciences segments, with expertise in operations, technology transformation, and M&A.   

What You Will Do 

Client Delivery  

• Serve as a trusted advisor to C-suite and senior executives, bringing deep healthcare and life sciences expertise to complex strategic, operational, and technology challenges. 

• Provide executive leadership for large-scale, high-impact transformation programs, maintaining alignment between client priorities, delivery strategy, and measurable business outcomes. 

• Build and steward strategic client relationships, bringing together capabilities from across West Monroe to address evolving executive priorities. 

• Provide executive oversight of engagement quality, economics, risk, and client satisfaction while empowering delivery leaders and teams to execute successfully. 

• Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs. 

• Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes. 

• Business Development 

• Originate significant new business and expand strategic healthcare and life sciences accounts by identifying client needs and shaping compelling transformation opportunities. 

• Develop trusted relationships with C-suite executives, board-level stakeholders, and other industry leaders. 

• Lead strategic pursuits from opportunity identification through solution development, executive positioning, negotiation, and close. 

• Establish and strengthen West Monroe's market presence through executive relationships, thought leadership, industry participation, and relevant perspectives on emerging healthcare and life sciences priorities. 

• Collaborate across industries, practices, and capabilities to bring differentiated, integrated solutions to clients. 

Practice Development  

• Help define and execute the growth strategy for the Healthcare & Life Sciences practice, including priority markets, offerings, capabilities, and investments. 

• Anticipate market shifts and translate emerging client needs into differentiated offerings, intellectual property, and go-to-market strategies. 

• Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain senior talent while building a strong pipeline of future leaders. 

• Foster collaboration across West Monroe and create an inclusive environment where diverse perspectives contribute to stronger outcomes. 

• Champion innovation, including responsible adoption of AI and emerging technologies across client delivery, business development, and internal operations. 

What You Will Bring 

• Extensive consulting or professional services leadership experience with deep expertise in healthcare and/or life sciences. 

• Demonstrated success advising C-suite executives and leading complex, enterprise-scale transformation initiatives. 

• Proven track record of originating new business, growing strategic accounts, and leading significant consulting pursuits. 

• Strong executive presence with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence decisions, and navigate complex stakeholder environments. 

• Demonstrated ability to identify market opportunities and translate them into differentiated offerings and sustainable business growth. 

• Experience building high-performing teams, developing senior leaders, and collaborating across multidisciplinary organizations. 

• Strong commercial judgment with experience overseeing engagement economics, risk, quality, and client outcomes. 

• Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs. 

• Ability to travel 25 to 50%.

Based on pay transparency guidelines, a reasonable expectation for the salary range for this role is listed below. Information on our competitive total rewards package, including our bonus structure and benefits is here.  Individual salaries are determined by evaluating a variety of factors including geography, experience, skills, education, and internal equity.Employees in proximity of our Seattle, Washington DC, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco offices will have a geographic premium applied to this salary scale. 

Employees (and their families) are covered by medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, purchase shares from our employee stock ownership program and be eligible to receive annual bonuses. Employees will also receive unlimited flexible time off and ten paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Eligibility for ten weeks of paid parental leave will also be available upon hire date.
