Job Description Summary:

AidData produces novel data, tools, and research that answers the question: who is funding, what, where, for whom, and to what effect around the world? AidData has an explicit focus on data and research that meets high academic standards but is also accessible and relevant for a broad audience of international relations practitioners, policymakers, journalists, and scholars. AidData’s work is made possible by generous financial support of international organizations such as the World Bank and United Nations, private philanthropies such as the Hewlett and Gates Foundations, and government agencies such as the US Department of State and USAID.

The Listening to Leaders program collects 360 degree feedback on development priorities, progress, and performance from the perspective of government, civil society and private sector leaders in low- and middle-income countries. We research convergence and divergence in priorities; barriers and opportunities to advance reforms; performance of development partners; and evidence-informed policymaking. We use large-scale online surveys, snap polls, and qualitative interviews combined with financial data to produce flagship reports such as Listening to Leaders: Which Development Partners Do They Prefer and Why?, alongside bespoke analysis in partnership with development organizations.

The APM will play a significant role in maintaining and updating the Listening to Leaders sampling frame and implementing future surveys using that sampling frame. The APM will spend substantial amount of their time managing student RAs who will be updating our sampling frame of leaders in 140+ low- and middle-income countries by identifying the names, positions, and contact information of leaders working in government, development organizations, non-governmental organizations, private sector, and academia. Furthermore, the APM will support the team in innovating data collection methodology and managing survey implementation and analysis.

The Associate Program Manager I (APM I) contributes to one or two projects and works at the intersection of cutting-edge research and research dissemination with relevant stakeholders. In this position you will oversee student teams and work with them to implement research and/or data collection. You will contribute to literature reviews and provide background research inputs. Under supervision, you will perform quality assurance tasks and contribute labor estimates for project proposals.
