Here’s the Gist: Wolfspeed SiC Epitaxy R&D is seeking an Engineering Technician to support epitaxy process development through the execution of experiments, characterization activities, equipment operation, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. The Engineering Technician will collaborate with operators, technicians, engineers, and other technical staff across Production and R&D organizations to execute a variety of tasks that advance process development objectives and maintain reliable equipment performance. Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, semiconductor processing knowledge, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced technical environment are highly desirable.

The Day-to-Day:

• Process Operations & Experimental Support
  • Support process experiments by loading, operating, and unloading epitaxy reactors.
  • Track R&D wafers through process and metrology workflows.
  • Perform wafer characterization and collect measurement data.
• Data Collection & Documentation
  • Ensure accurate data collection, analysis, and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with R&D team members through clear written and verbal updates.
  • Communicate technical issues, root causes, and resolutions to stakeholders.
• Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
  • Perform routine maintenance and preventive maintenance activities on epitaxy reactors.
  • Analyze preventive maintenance findings and recommend corrective or improvement actions.
• Procedure Development & Training
  • Develop operating procedures and train staff based on process development learnings.
• Project Management
  • Lead and execute simple projects from planning through completion.
  • Contribute to complex cross-functional projects.
• Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

• Associates degree or equivalent experience in military service or hands-on trade (2yrs)
• Attention to detail, strong organizational and communication abilities
• Ability to work in a clean-room environment (>80% of time)
• Good dexterity skills with the ability to handle fragile wafers and process furniture
• Good mechanical skills and aptitude
• Experience with MS Office software (ie. Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
• High energy, self-motivated, and goal-oriented attitude
• This position requires the lawful ability to access technical data, information, and areas controlled by United States export control laws and regulations.
