Wastewater Operations & Maintenance Technician - Grade 4 License Required - (Acton, MA)

What Will You Be Doing at Woodard & Curran?

As an O&M Technician, you will join the team responsible for operating and maintaining the Acton, Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Facility. Our O&M team supports the wastewater treatment plant, collection system, and ancillary equipment at the site.

In this full-time position, you will support facility operations and maintenance projects, general facility and grounds maintenance, laboratory analysis, recordkeeping, and process control.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Participate in the daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility, as directed by the Plant or Project Manager.
• Participate in the daily operation and maintenance of the collection system and all associated components, as directed by the Plant or Project Manager.
• Assist with preventive maintenance and repairs for plant-related equipment.
• Complete daily inspections and rounds of the operating sites.
• Gather information for report preparation, including data used to prepare the Monthly Operating Report.
• Coordinate with operations staff to ensure established administrative, safety, and operating policies are followed.

Schedule:

The general daily schedule is:

• Monday through Friday
• 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Flexibility is required for this position. Operators participate in an on-call rotation to provide plant coverage outside normal workday hours, and shifts may include weekends.

Operators must also be available to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed.

What Will You Need to Succeed?

• A Massachusetts Grade 4 Wastewater Operator License.
• Operations and maintenance experience at a wastewater treatment facility, or an equivalent combination of similar work experience and education.
• Ability to perform routine preventive maintenance, inspections, lubrication, basic adjustments, cleaning, and documentation to keep plant and collection system equipment operating reliably.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, other personnel, and the general public.
• Ability to support general building upkeep and site maintenance, including:
• Snow and ice response
• Mowing
• Cleaning
• Painting
• Minor carpentry
• Maintaining a safe and organized work environment
• Comfort working with wastewater-related equipment, including:
• Pumps
• Motors
• Valves
• Blowers
• Mixers
• Piping
• Screens
• Chemical feed systems
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Familiarity with biological and chemical treatment processes, with a particular aptitude for laboratory analysis, recordkeeping, and facility maintenance.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to regularly lift or move up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Successful candidates will be required to complete the following before employment:

• DOT background check
• DOT pre-placement physical
• DOT drug screen
