Founding AI Engineer

We are looking for an early-career engineer with 0-2 years of experience (more experience is always welcome! ) to help build a new AI + computer vision product at Wooqer. This role is for someone who is deeply technical, high-agency, fast-moving, and genuinely excited to build from zero. The ideal candidate should be comfortable turning rough product ideas into working prototypes and owning product engineering from the beginning. This is not a typical engineering role. We are looking for a builder - someone who has built products, tools, AI systems, computer vision projects, apps, or prototypes and can show proof of shipping quickly.

Responsibilities:

• You will help build the core AI + visual intelligence layer of a product that uses images to understand real-world execution and turn it into clear checks, insights, and actions.
• Building image-based workflows where users capture, upload, review, and resubmit photos.
• Developing computer vision pipelines for image quality checks, visual understanding, object detection, image comparison, OCR, segmentation, classification, and scene understanding.
• Designing systems that compare real-world images against references, checklists, rules, or expected standards.
• Building scoring logic, issue detection, confidence thresholds, and recommendation flows.
• Working with ML models, vision-language models, embeddings, and structured AI outputs.
• Testing model outputs against real-world edge cases such as blur, poor lighting, wrong angles, incomplete images, and inconsistent inputs.
• Creating feedback loops so the system improves using real images, human corrections, repeated submissions, and outcome data.
• Building backend APIs, databases, dashboards, and internal tools required to support the AI workflow.
• Prototyping quickly, testing with real users/data, and improving based on feedback.

Requirements:

• The ideal candidate is an early-career ML/computer vision engineer with strong product-building ability. They should have proof of building with image-based data, understand machine learning deeply, and be excited to help build a core visual AI engine from the ground up.

Technical Requirements:

• Strong in Python and hands-on with PyTorch / TensorFlow.
• Strong understanding of machine learning fundamentals, not just AI API usage.
• Strong experience or serious interest in computer vision / visual engineering.
• Experience working with image-based data such as object detection, image comparison, OCR, segmentation, scene understanding, or visual recognition.
• Familiarity with OpenCV, YOLO, CLIP, CNNs, image embeddings, multimodal models, and vision pipelines.
• Understanding of training, fine-tuning, inference, evaluation, accuracy improvement, false positives, and false negatives.
• Ability to decide when to use an existing model, when to fine-tune, and when to build custom logic.
• Comfortable building AI workflows with LLMs / vision-language models, structured outputs, and model evaluation.
• Comfortable with GitHub, APIs, databases, cloud deployment, logging, and basic backend systems.
• Strong plus: experience with React / React Native / Next.js, Node.js, or FastAPI.
