Workday is an American enterprise software company founded in 2005 by two PeopleSoft executives after Oracle's hostile takeover of their previous employer. It sells cloud applications for human capital management and financial management to large organisations, covering core human resources records, payroll, talent, workforce planning, general ledger accounting, procurement and planning in a single system with one data model and a common release schedule for every customer. Headquartered in Pleasanton and listed on Nasdaq, it competes principally with SAP and Oracle for large enterprise deployments and has embedded artificial intelligence agents across its applications.

About the Team

Workday is seeking two Engagement Managers to join our ANZ Engagement Management team, supporting enterprise customers across Australia. This single requisition covers both Engagement Manager and Senior Engagement Manager levels, with portfolio scope, strategic leadership, and project complexity aligned to candidate experience.

In this role, you will own the overall success of Workday customer engagements post-sale - acting as the primary point of accountability for scope, schedule, budget, risk, and customer satisfaction across the project lifecycle.

About the Role

As an Engagement Manager, you will independently lead multiple concurrent customer engagements, partnering closely with Functional and Technical Consultants, Solution Architects, and customer executive sponsors to ensure Workday deployments are delivered on time, on budget, and to a high standard of quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end delivery of Workday implementation engagements, including scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and risk management.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point and trusted advisor for customer executive sponsors and steering committees throughout the engagement.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, status reporting, and governance cadences (steering committee reviews, risk/issue logs, change control) across the engagement lifecycle.
  • Partner with Functional Consultants, Technical Consultants, and Solution Architects to ensure engagement teams are aligned on deliverables, dependencies, and timelines.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, issues, and scope changes, escalating and resolving them before they impact delivery.
  • Manage engagement financials, including budget tracking, forecasting, invoicing support, and change order/statement of work management.
  • Lead resource planning and staffing discussions with practice leadership to ensure engagements are appropriately resourced.
  • Drive customer satisfaction throughout the engagement, gathering feedback and addressing concerns to support strong references and renewals.
  • Support pre-sales activities as needed, including scoping calls and statement of work development for follow-on or expansion work.
  • Mentor and provide delivery guidance to Associate Engagement Managers and project team members within the region.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engagement management methodology, tools, and best practices across the region.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum 3/5 (EM / Senior EM) years of experience in engagement, program, or project management within enterprise software consulting or professional services, ideally on SaaS/ERP/HCM/Financials implementations.
  • Minimum 1/3 (EM / Senior EM) years of experience in leading customer-facing delivery teams on complex, multi-workstream engagements with executive-level stakeholders.

Other Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, risk, and scope on fixed-fee or time-and-materials engagements.
  • Experience delivering Workday (or comparable cloud HCM/Financials platform) implementations strongly preferred.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, or equivalent project/program management certification is a plus.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to manage difficult conversations and align diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements and competing priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
