About the Role
A Forward Deployed Engineer helps our most important customers turn IT-lifecycle ambition into reality. You partner with them directly to design, build, and launch the workflows that drive adoption, deepen usage, and deliver measurable outcomes.
This is a brand new team, set up like a startup inside Workwize. It exists for two reasons. New clients should get what they need to go live in weeks, not months. And our clients should get an engineer who knows their setup and fixes things fast.
There is no product manager writing specs for you. You talk to the client, decide what is worth building, build it, ship it, and check that it made a difference. Everything you work on should bring clear value to the client and to Workwize. To be clear: this is not a machine learning or AI research role. You think alongg with our clients and build product features, workflows, and integrations on our platform. You use AI tools every day to move fast.
How the work runs
- Discover. Get deep into the client’s IT world: goals, processes, tech environment, governance, and adoption blockers.
- Design. Turn that into engineering solutions: what Workwize owns, what integrates, how it becomes a durable operating layer that makes IT simple.
- Deliver. Stay hands-on through onboarding, building, launching, and iterating until it is live and the value is real.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with the teams of new / enterprise clients. Run the discovery, agree what “done” looks like, and keep everyone updated.
- Turn messy requests from calls, Slack, and email into small, clear tickets with a measure of success on each.
- Build and ship production-quality code in our product. Not demos, not side forks.
- Say no, or “not yet”, when a request does not bring enough value. Propose the quickest-best version that solves the real problem.
- Track the impact of your work: faster go-lives, more orders and usage on the platform, fewer support tickets, happier clients.
- Work closely with Onboarding, Customer Success, Operations, sales and the product teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Around 4+ years of building and shipping software that real users depend on. You code at the level of a strong product engineer and work across the stack: web apps, APIs, and integrations.
- Experience working directly with customers or clients: you have run calls, scoped work, and pushed back when needed.
- You think in business terms. You can explain why something is worth building, not only how to build it.
- You investigate, prototype, plan, and ship with AI. You do not wait for another team to start. You know when to trust AI output and when to check it yourself.
- Fluent English, spoken and written.
Bonus Skills
- Experience at an agency, an early-stage startup, or running your own company, where you had to do a lot with a small team.
- Experience with enterprise clients, and an understanding of how decisions get made (and blocked) inside large organisations.
- Experience with IT, device management, or HR and identity tools (for example Intune, Jamf, Okta, or an HRIS).
The Right Mindset
People who combine consultative discovery, systems thinking, technical fluency, workflow design, implementation judgment, and strong customer presence. In practice, that means you:
- Are pragmatic and fast.
- Think like an entrepreneur. You care about the outcome for the client, not about the ticket.
- Lead yourself. You don’t need someone to tell you what to do next, and clients trust you to run their project.
- Get energy from working with people. You enjoy being on calls and in the room with clients, then going back to build.
- Communicate clearly and directly.

We prefer candidates based in the Netherlands, working hybrid from our Amsterdam office. We are also open to candidates in the UK and elsewhere in Europe who already have the right to work there. For the Netherlands, we can support a visa if needed. You might travel to clients once or twice a year.
