Job Overview

The Risk & Control role will be an integral part of the Business Transformation team, supporting the development and continuous improvement of the organisation’s risk and control framework.

The role will focus on strengthening operational controls, identifying and monitoring risks, supporting process improvement, and ensuring that key controls are clearly defined, consistently executed, properly documented, and effectively followed up.

Working closely with different departments and business units, you will help establish a practical and business-oriented control environment that supports operational efficiency, accountability, risk awareness, and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, curiosity, and the ability to understand how processes work in practice and identify opportunities to make them more robust and effective.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design, development, and maintenance of the organisation’s Risk & Control framework across different business processes and functions.
• Identify key operational risks and support the definition of appropriate controls and mitigation measures.
• Maintain and continuously improve the Control Matrix, ensuring that controls, ownership, frequency, evidence requirements, and expected outcomes are clearly defined.
• Coordinate and monitor the execution of recurring controls, ensuring that required evidence is collected, documented, and maintained.
• Review control results and identify exceptions, recurring issues, control weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
• Track identified exceptions and improvement actions, working with process owners to ensure appropriate follow-up and resolution.
• Analyse operational processes to identify inefficiencies, control gaps, and areas where processes can be simplified, strengthened, or better documented.
• Develop and maintain clear process documentation, procedures, control descriptions, guidelines, and supporting materials.
• Maintain structured and accessible repositories for Risk & Control documentation, evidence, action plans, and management information.
• Work closely with departments and business units to understand their processes, challenges, and risks, promoting ownership and awareness of controls within the business.
• Prepare clear Risk & Control reports, dashboards, summaries, and management updates, highlighting key findings, exceptions, trends, and outstanding actions.
• Support the development of relevant Risk & Control indicators and metrics to improve visibility over control performance and emerging risks.
• Contribute to Business Transformation and continuous improvement initiatives by translating Risk & Control insights into practical improvements to processes and ways of working.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Management, Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in Risk & Control, compliance, business operations, process management, finance controls, or a related environment.
• Interest in operational risk, internal controls, process improvement, and business transformation.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with SharePoint, Power BI, Power Automate, or similar tools is considered an advantage.
• Proficiency in Portuguese and English
• Ability to understand business processes and identify risks, control requirements, exceptions, and improvement opportunities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with operational and control-related data.
• Proven ability to document processes, procedures, controls, and findings clearly and concisely.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage recurring controls, follow-up actions, deadlines, and multiple stakeholders.
• High level of attention to detail and accuracy, combined with the ability to understand the broader business context.
• Proactive and curious mindset, with the confidence to ask questions, challenge existing ways of working constructively, and propose practical improvements.
• Ability to work collaboratively with different departments and levels of the organisation.
