We’re looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the design, delivery, and growth of overhead transmission line projects within our Transmission & Distribution business while building team capability and strengthening our presence in a rapidly evolving market.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting leadership role where you’ll not only deliver high-impact projects but also lead, mentor, and uplift a team of talented engineers. You’ll play a key role in shaping technical excellence, growing our capability, and enhancing our market presence across major energy programs.

Working at the forefront of Australia’s energy transition, you’ll collaborate nationally, influence clients, and help position the business as a trusted partner in transmission and distribution solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the delivery of overhead transmission line projects across design, planning, and execution phases

  • Provide strong technical and people leadership, mentoring engineers and supporting capability uplift across the team

  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture focused on continuous learning and development

  • Ensure compliance with relevant Australian and international standards for design, testing, and commissioning

  • Apply your expertise in PLS-CADD, TOWER and/or POLE to support high-quality engineering outcomes

  • Oversee the full asset lifecycle from planning through to construction, operation, and maintenance

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, enhancing WSP’s market presence and reputation

  • Lead bids, proposals, and strategic growth initiatives to secure new work

  • Support project delivery in a Project Director / Project Manager capacity where required

  • Promote innovation, safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement

  • Ensure compliance with all Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) requirements

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)

  • Relevant experience within the Transmission & Distribution industry with proven Australian market expertise

  • Demonstrated leadership experience across people, projects, and mentoring/coaching

  • Strong background in overhead transmission line design and engineering

  • Experience with PLS-CADD (TOWER/POLE) highly regarded

  • Proven ability in business development, proposals, and winning work

  • Experience delivering projects as a Project Manager or Project Director

  • Commercially astute with a strong understanding of business drivers

  • Engineering registration (CPEng, CEng or equivalent) preferred or willingness to obtain

  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities

  • A collaborative, client-focused approach with excellent communication skills

  • Resilient, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment

Why join us?

  • Work on nationally significant energy infrastructure projects

  • Play a key role in leading and growing a team, shaping capability and future leaders

  • Flexible working options across Australia

  • Strong pipeline of Transmission & Distribution work

  • Clear pathway into senior leadership roles

  • Collaborative, supportive team environment with a focus on development
