Serves as a manager of the Non-Invasive Services department including nuclear medicine and ECG. Oversees daily operations of the department with budgetary and personnel concerns to perform quality procedures. Provides leadership, imaging expertise, support and education to staff to assure optimum performance of imaging procedures and protocols.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor's degree with five (5) years' experience as an Electrocardiogram Technician OR High School Diploma or Equivalent with seven (7) years' experience as an Electrocardiogram Technician

2. ECG Certification through National Healthcareer Association.

3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Non-Invasive Services department. Coordinates staffing workload and patient flow to assure appropriate and quality patient care.

2. Assures adequate staffing of all area, coordinating employee work schedules, prioritizing and assigning work to be performed so that patient flow and quality of care are not compromised.

3. Monitors and assesses employee performance on a daily basis. Performs the review of all managed personnel through performance management.

4. Coordinates the selection of personnel, as positions become available, which exhibit the potential to meet optimum standards for performance and patient care.

5. Monitors to insure adequate inventory levels while remaining within the constraints of the current expense budget allocations.

6. Directly involved in the formulation of the current expense budget advising the Director of any changes in materials cost or projected procedure volumes that may impact the budget in the coming fiscal year.

7. Responsible for the purchasing of approved capital budget request as appropriate for the Non-Invasive Services department.

8. Coordinates preventive maintenance calls, repairs, and equipment upgrades as necessary, always advising medical staff of any equipment problems in advance as to not interfere with patient care.

9. Conducts monthly staff meetings for employees to provide information on a departmental and hospital wide basis.

10. Attends educational conferences and interacts with associated vendors to acquire knowledge and to keep informed regarding new technology available.

11. Assures the optimum performance of medical imaging and interpretation services in accordance with the service and educational missions of the institution. Identifies device trial opportunities and collaborates with industry professionals for participation

12. Coordinate public forums for education on current trends in noninvasive services through collaboration of community relations.

13. Selects, hires, manages, and evaluates the effectiveness of employees on an ongoing basis. Promotes the recruitment and retention of a qualified staff.

14. Performs on-going performance reviews that provide objective, constructive feedback regarding strengths and opportunities for improvement, including developmental plans for each employee. Establishes and maintains a mechanism of co-worker performance review.

15. Evaluates the needs with the departmental Clinical Preceptor and identifies and coordinates on-going continual education for staff. Facilitates the professional development of all staff with the departmental Clinical Preceptor and ensures competence in clinical practice.

16. Coaches and counsels to correct identified performance deficiencies, developing plans which establish goals, provides follow-up and follows established hospital policies.

17. Enforces hospital and departmental policies and ensures that staff are meeting the established standards of practice. Monitors staff satisfaction and takes appropriate corrective action.

18. Devises a communication system to keep all personnel informed about the unit and hospital. Has a mechanism in place to provide interaction with all employees on all shifts.

19. Fosters a competent staff through the provision of orientation, in-services, continuing education programs and competency validation programs. Identifies current and anticipates future educational needs & develops plans to meet them.

20. Provides guidance and direction through identification of, and response to issues.

21. Ensures the appropriate delegation of departmental activities. Supervises delegated activities to assure effective completion.
