Production Supervisor
Full-Time | Marion, Ohio
Lead People. Solve Problems. Make Production Better.
We're looking for a leader who believes their job is to help their team succeed.
The best production supervisors don't just tell people what to do. They coach, listen, remove obstacles, solve problems, and help people take pride in their work. They know that when employees have the training, tools, support, and direction they need, great results follow.
We're looking for a Production Supervisor who combines servant leadership with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Someone who can develop people, work through challenging production issues, and continuously improve the way we operate while keeping quality, food safety, and employee safety at the forefront.
If you're the kind of leader who wants to understand why a problem happened instead of simply reacting to it-and who measures success by both team performance and team development-we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Do
Lead by Serving and Developing Your Team
- Coach, train, motivate, and develop production employees to help them reach their full potential.
- Build trust and strong working relationships through listening, clear communication, constructive feedback, and consistent follow-through.
- Help employees develop the skills, confidence, and ownership needed to do their jobs well.
- Address performance issues fairly and directly, balancing accountability with a genuine commitment to employee development.
- Foster a collaborative environment where employees feel comfortable sharing ideas, raising concerns, and contributing to solutions.
Troubleshoot Problems and Drive Improvement
- Investigate production challenges, identify root causes, and implement practical, lasting solutions.
- Serve as a technical resource for production systems, processes, and product requirements.
- Recognize opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, quality, and overall performance.
- Work with other departments to resolve problems, coordinate resources, and keep production running effectively.
- Encourage employees to participate in continuous improvement and take ownership of better ways of working.
Own Quality, Food Safety, and Employee Safety
- Ensure production activities, facilities, and finished products meet company standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain high standards for sanitation, cleanliness, and safe work practices.
- Identify and address unacceptable conditions promptly, taking appropriate corrective action.
- Reinforce the importance of doing the job right, safely and consistently, every time.
Deliver Results Through Leadership
- Coordinate daily packaging and processing activities to meet production, quality, and productivity goals.
- Communicate priorities, expectations, and production needs clearly across shifts and departments.
- Partner with other teams to ensure employees have the resources and support necessary to succeed.
- Adapt to changing priorities, unexpected challenges, and opportunities to improve operations.
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role?
We're looking for someone who:
- Leads with a servant's mindset. You see leadership as a responsibility to support, develop, and enable others-not simply direct them.
- Enjoys troubleshooting. When something goes wrong, your instinct is to investigate, ask questions, understand the process, and find the underlying cause.
- Develops people. You recognize that different employees need different kinds of coaching, and you take satisfaction in helping others grow.
- Balances support with accountability. You treat people with respect while maintaining clear expectations and following through on commitments.
- Thinks beyond today's problems. You look for ways to prevent recurring issues and improve processes over time.
- Communicates effectively. You listen carefully, give constructive feedback, and work well with people across departments and levels of the organization.
- Stays composed under pressure. You can make sound decisions, adjust priorities, and lead through uncertainty or adversity.
- Takes ownership. You don't wait for someone else to solve every problem. You take initiative, involve the right people, and follow through.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience or relevant related experience.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, including the ability to work through technical or operational challenges.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, and employee development skills.
- Ability to analyze situations, exercise sound judgment, and implement improvements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with other departments.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred, but practical experience, leadership ability, and demonstrated problem-solving skills are important considerations.
- Experience leading projects, continuous improvement initiatives, or significant process changes is preferred.
What You Can Expect
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both the people you lead and the operation you help run.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Develop employees and help build a stronger, more capable production team.
- Solve real operational challenges and see the results of your improvements.
- Work across departments to improve how the operation performs.
- Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of daily operations while contributing to longer-term improvements.
