This is a department-head, executive-team role, not a team-lead role scaled up. You will own technology strategy end-to-end (including but not limited to engineering, product/data, infrastructure, security, and quality) and sit on the leadership team shaping company direction, not just executing a roadmap handed to you. You'll be accountable for technology as a business function: budget, vendor decisions, platform reliability, AI/data strategy, and the org design needed to support it.
The candidate will have responsibilities across the following functions:
Technology Strategy and Executive Leadership:
- Own the end-to-end technology vision and roadmap across engineering, product, data/AI, infrastructure, and security, and sit on the leadership team shaping company strategy, build-vs-buy decisions, and technical due diligence.
- Own the technology budget and report ROI to founders/board; define XEBO. ai 's long-term architecture and AI/ML strategy, including how capabilities like the XEBO Assistant are built and scaled.
Organisation and People Leadership:
- Build and lead the entire technology department - Engineering, DevOps/Infra, QA, Data Engineering, and Security - designing the org structure needed as the company scales.
- Hire and develop engineering managers and technical leads, building a leadership bench and a strong engineering culture that balances delivery speed with quality.
Platform, Architecture and Reliability:
- Own the platform's long-term architecture, reliability, and live-site operations — defining SLAs/SLOs, ensuring 24/7 availability, and leading cloud infrastructure strategy as the platform scales globally.
- Own information security and data privacy posture, including compliance relevant to global enterprise customers (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR-adjacent requirements).
Product, Data and AI:
- Partner with Product and Data Science to shape the AI/ML roadmap and own the data architecture strategy powering real-time analytics, sentiment analysis, and predictive insights.
Cross-Functional and Customer Impact:
- Partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to resolve critical technical issues and represent technology in enterprise deals, RFPs, and security reviews.
- Serve as a key leadership voice driving XEBO. ai 's growth across India, the Middle East, and the USA.
Requirements:
- You have a B. Tech/BE (or equivalent) from a tier-1 institute with 10+ years of experience, including significant time leading engineering organisations, not just teams, at an enterprise SaaS or growth-stage startup.
- You've operated at a department-head level: owning budget, org design, and technology strategy, not only sprint execution.
- You have deep experience with modern, cloud-first, distributed architectures and have guided a platform through real scale curves — and know the common pitfalls.
- You have hands-on familiarity with JavaScript-based frameworks and modern SaaS tech stacks, and can still go deep technically when needed.
- You have led or closely partnered on AI/ML or data-heavy product initiatives and understand how to balance innovation with production reliability.
- You've built and scaled multi-team engineering organisations — including DevOps, QA, and security functions — not just a single product engineering team.
- You understand information security, data privacy, and compliance well enough to own enterprise customer trust conversations.
- You care deeply about the quality of what you ship and the experience of the people building it — you understand great design and are excited about products real people love to use.
- You're comfortable operating at multiple altitudes: architecture whiteboard one hour, board-level budget conversation the next.
- You take strong ownership of the business, not just the technology — and you're excited to partner across Product, Sales, and Customer Success to win together.
- You have a strong point of view, but you're low-ego and collaborative.
