We're looking for a Systems Engineer, Technical Service to join us in Budaörs, Hungary.

ZEISS Hungary supports customers with advanced industrial measurement and technology solutions. As part of our Technical Service team, you will work directly with customers and internal specialists to ensure the reliable operation, maintenance, and performance of ZEISS measurement technology equipment and systems.

Your Role

As a Systems Engineer, Technical Service, you will provide first-level technical customer service and support for designated ZEISS products within an assigned service territory.

You will be responsible for installation, preventive maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of measurement technology equipment and measuring machines. Using your technical knowledge and experience, you will diagnose mechanical, hardware, and software failures and coordinate effective solutions to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and system performance.

Working closely with customers, engineers, technicians, specialists, sales teams, and the Service Helpdesk, you will act as an important technical link between ZEISS and our customers.

The role of Systems Engineer, Technical Service will involve:

  • Diagnosing and repairing designated ZEISS measurement technology products within an assigned service territory.
  • Installing, setting up, commissioning, maintaining, upgrading, and repairing measurement technology equipment and measuring machines.
  • Diagnosing mechanical, hardware, and software failures and applying established technical procedures to resolve issues ranging from routine to moderately complex.
  • Providing technical support to customers through your specialised product and system knowledge.
  • Coordinating and implementing technical solutions within clearly defined solution areas.
  • Using sound judgement to select appropriate methods and techniques when identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Determining cost-effective repair and resolution options in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance and ensuring the reliable operation of customer equipment.
  • Installing and replacing ordered materials, spare parts, and defective components.
  • Performing measurements and calibration activities to ensure optimal functioning of machines and systems.
  • Supporting the relocation, disassembly, transportation, reassembly, and proper adjustment of machines.
  • Assessing requirements for components, parts, materials, and other technical resources needed to complete service activities.
  • Completing all required documentation relating to installation, repair, maintenance, calibration, and machine settings.
  • Preparing service, quality, expense, and other required reports accurately and within the defined timelines.
  • Maintaining effective communication and ongoing relationships with selected customers and sales colleagues, particularly in relation to technical applications of ZEISS products and services.
  • Working closely with engineers, technicians, specialists, workmen, customers, partners, and the Service Helpdesk to ensure effective resolution of technical issues.
  • Providing technical and numerical support in the preparation of quotations.
  • Keeping up to date with manufacturer documentation, software descriptions, maintenance instructions, user manuals, and technical specifications required to perform the role effectively.
  • Understanding and adapting to new technologies, software, and technical solutions that improve the operational efficiency of systems.
  • Participating in technical product training, professional development programmes, and presentations as required.

Your Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Initial professional experience in the maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, or servicing of technical equipment or industrial systems.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid technical understanding of mechanical, hardware, and software systems.
  • Ability to understand and work with technical documentation, software descriptions, maintenance instructions, and user manuals.
  • Good judgement and a structured approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work directly with customers.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, specialists, sales teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with a reliable and professional approach to service delivery.
  • Willingness to continuously learn and develop product and process knowledge.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

It would be desirable if you had:

  • Experience with industrial measurement technology, metrology, or measuring machines.
  • Experience with calibration and adjustment of technical equipment.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing technical service environment.
  • Knowledge of measurement technology and related software systems.
  • Experience preparing or supporting technical quotations.
  • Experience supporting customers across multiple product or technology areas.
