Fund Accounting Operations Analyst
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Fund Accounting Operations Analyst with strong knowledge of fund accounting, investment operations, and client onboarding. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting hedge funds, private equity funds, or other alternative investment vehicles and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced financial services environment.
The role requires accounting expertise, operational discipline, a process-improvement mindset, and an interest in using automation and AI to improve fund administration activities.
Key Responsibilities
Fund Accounting and Operations
Maintain fund general ledgers and process journal entries.
Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual NAV-related activities.
Prepare workpapers, financial reports, and supporting accounting schedules.
Execute cash, position, and transaction reconciliations.
Support month-end and quarter-end close activities.
Calculate management fees, incentive fees, carried interest, and waterfall allocations.
Review and validate fund performance and valuation data.
Investment and Fund Administration
Support hedge fund, private equity, and alternative investment structures.
Assist with security and investment valuations.
Perform trade lifecycle and investment accounting activities.
Coordinate with custodians, administrators, auditors, and portfolio managers.
Follow operational controls and applicable accounting policies.
Client Onboarding and Conversion
Support or lead fund migration and onboarding activities for new clients.
Perform historical data conversion, validation, and reconciliation.
Reconcile data between legacy and target platforms.
Support UAT, parallel runs, transition activities, and issue resolution.
Prepare onboarding documentation and client communication materials.
Process Improvement and Automation
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and control effectiveness.
Use AI and automation tools to reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
Participate in digital transformation and workflow-enhancement initiatives.
Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
Partner with technology teams on automation and platform improvements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in fund accounting or closely related investment accounting operations.
Experience with journal entries, general ledger activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Understanding of hedge funds, private equity, mutual funds, or alternative investments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with large financial datasets.
Clear communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Geneva, PCS, Investran, eFront, Allvue, Advent, or another fund accounting platform.
Experience in a fund administration or asset-servicing environment.
Exposure to client migrations, fund conversions, or new-client onboarding.
Knowledge of AI, RPA, Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate, or similar automation tools.
CPA, CA, CFA, or an equivalent financial certification is an advantage.
