Zep

Zep provides a memory layer for AI agents, storing conversation history as a temporal knowledge graph that can be queried later. Developers use it so an assistant remembers facts about a user across sessions without stuffing every transcript into the prompt. The core engine is open source with a hosted commercial service.

Zep manages, governs, and serves agent memory at enterprise scale. Enterprises build on Zep to run reliable, personalized agents across the business: millions of Context Graphs, served in under 200ms, inside their own VPCs and cloud deployments. Customers include Samsung, Zscaler, Twin Health, HoneyBook, and NASDAQ 100 and Fortune 500 technology companies. We also build Graphiti, our open-source context graph framework (30K+ GitHub stars).

You will own how developers and engineering leaders find Zep, understand it, and decide to build on it: the marketing site, the landing pages, the instrumentation underneath them, the automation that runs demand generation, and the agent tooling that lets one person do the work of a marketing team.

We're hiring an engineer who writes code most days and owns the marketing outcomes that code produces. There is no marketing team to inherit and none to manage.

We will measure you on signups and on the pipeline your systems produce.

You'll report to our founder, Daniel (2x founder, engineer, former head of ML at SparkPost), and join a team with pedigree at Scale AI, Dropbox, ActiveCampaign, DroneDeploy, and McKinsey.

How we work

We're a small, distributed team that works closely together. We pair on hard problems, review each other's designs, and treat learning as part of the job rather than something that happens after hours. We ask a lot of questions: of customers, of teammates, of our own assumptions. When we find pain, we go fix it.

We expect the same back: ask questions early, push back when you disagree, and care about the people on the other end of the API.

What you'll do

  • Ship the marketing site, landing pages, and campaign surfaces as code. You build them and rebuild them when the data says to.
  • Instrument every public surface from first touch through signup and into activation. Expect to rebuild some of this in your first month.
  • Own answer engine discoverability. Developers ask Claude and ChatGPT before they ask Google, and their coding agents increasingly ask on their behalf. Structured data, llms.txt, docs architecture, and the measurement that tells us whether any of it works.
  • Run demand generation, from paid acquisition and lifecycle through the pipeline that turns a first visit into a sales conversation. You decide where budget goes and you own the number.
  • Run social in the places engineers actually are, using agents to move fast and your own taste to decide what ships.
  • Build internal agents that remove manual work from campaign operations, content production, competitive monitoring, and reporting. You own them after they ship, including when a third-party API breaks at 2am.
  • Choose the stack, consolidate what overlaps, and keep the cost of your own automation in view.

Your first 90 days

You start by shipping. The instrumentation needs rebuilding, and we would rather you fix the foundation than build on it broken. By day 60 the funnel is measured from first touch through activation. By day 90 you own the demand generation number and have a roadmap you can defend.

What we're looking for

Five things. We mean these five and not a longer list.

  • You have shipped web applications end to end: with users, deployed, instrumented, and maintained. Show us.
  • You build with coding agents as a matter of routine. Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent, as part of how you work rather than something you have tried.
  • You think about conversion, activation, and developer trust without being asked to. The marketing half of this role is judgment about metrics rather than campaign credentials.
  • You have opinions about how developers evaluate infrastructure, formed by building for them or by being the developer being marketed to.
  • You want to run a function alone, and you treat a team of one as an advantage.

Useful, not required: prior work on marketing sites, docs sites, or product-led growth surfaces at a dev tools, infrastructure, or AI company. SEO and AEO experience grounded in tests rather than theory. Familiarity with graph databases, retrieval, or agent frameworks. Technical content that engineers read to the end.

We do not care how many years you have done this.

This role is probably NOT a fit if:

  • You run campaigns but do not write code.
  • Your shipped work is prototypes and demos. This role maintains what it ships.
  • You want to hire a team before you have built the systems.
  • You need an established playbook or sign-off before you move.

We respect your time and keep our interview process tight and focussed.

Screening Call (w/ Daniel, our Founder)

→ Portfolio Walkthrough + Team Calls (2-3 hours back-to-back)

→ Paid Work Sample (three hours, $750)

→ Decision Call (Daniel, again)

The work sample: You prototype an agent that monitors some signals we care about and demonstrate how it works, how it would integrate with our CRM, and what actions it would take.
