We are looking for a dedicated professional who can lead warehouse operations, maintain accurate inventory records, coordinate material distribution, and ensure the timely availability of essential supplies to support our mining operations.

About the role

The Warehouse Supervisor will oversee daily warehouse operations and ensure the efficient receipt, storage, preservation, control, and distribution of materials, equipment, and spare parts.

You will work closely with Logistics, Inventory Planning, Sourcing and Procurement, Projects, Maintenance, and other departments to maintain optimal stock levels and deliver reliable warehouse services.

You will also lead warehouse improvement initiatives, strengthen inventory management procedures, develop team capabilities, and ensure compliance with company safety standards.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Warehouse and inventory management

• Oversee daily warehouse operations, including the safe receipt, inspection, storage, handling, and issuance of materials.
• Ensure the timely receipt, binning, and issuance of spare parts and inventory items.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and safeguard stock integrity.
• Design and maintain an effective warehouse layout and cataloguing system to improve accessibility and inventory control.
• Conduct regular physical stock counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate the timely replenishment of materials and supplies.
• Develop and implement inventory preservation programmes to prevent damage, deterioration, and environmental exposure.
• Ensure that all materials match their packing lists before dispatch.
• Coordinate the proper packaging, transportation, storage, and placement of products.
• Maintain accurate records of warehouse transactions and stock movements.

Logistics and supply chain coordination

• Build strong relationships with end users to ensure effective parts supply and reliable service delivery.
• Coordinate with Logistics, Inventory Planning, and Sourcing and Procurement teams to align inventory requirements and distribution activities.
• Work closely with internal customers to understand their material requirements and provide responsive warehouse support.
• Collaborate with the Projects team to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize unnecessary stock holdings.
• Establish and improve distribution channels to ensure the timely delivery of materials to end users.
• Coordinate warehouse logistics and ensure efficient movement of materials.
• Monitor distribution performance and provide regular operational updates to management.
• Support maintenance planning by ensuring the availability of essential spare parts and materials.

Safety and operational excellence

• Ensure all warehouse activities comply with Zijin’s safety policies, procedures, and operational standards.
• Promote safe material handling, storage, lifting, and transportation practices.
• Identify operational risks and implement appropriate control measures.
• Review existing warehouse processes and introduce improvements to increase productivity and efficiency.
• Monitor warehouse service levels and identify opportunities to improve inventory management.
• Ensure compliance with procurement procedures, internal controls, and documentation requirements.

Team leadership and development

• Supervise and coordinate warehouse employees to achieve operational objectives.
• Identify skills and knowledge gaps within the warehouse team.
• Recommend and support appropriate training and development programmes.
• Coach and develop direct and indirect reports to improve their technical and professional capabilities.
• Delegate responsibilities and monitor individual and team performance.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What we are looking for

Educational qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Procurement, or a related field.

Professional experience

• A minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in warehouse operations within the mining industry.
• Demonstrated experience in warehouse supervision, inventory management, and materials distribution.
• Experience managing spare parts inventory and coordinating warehouse logistics.
• Previous experience leading teams and improving warehouse processes will be an advantage.

Additional knowledge and technical skills

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

• Strong knowledge of warehouse management and inventory control systems.
• Understanding of supply chain management principles and practices.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Enterprise Asset Planning (EAP) systems.
• Understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) transactional processes.
• Knowledge of system implementation methodologies.
• Good understanding of maintenance planning and spare parts management.
• Working knowledge of contracting practices and procurement documentation.
• Strong inventory and service-level management skills.
• Knowledge of business process improvement techniques.
• Good distribution and materials planning capabilities.
• Understanding of commercial demand forecasting.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
