Ameren is a US energy company headquartered in Saint Louis, Missouri, that generates electricity and delivers electric and natural gas service to customers in Missouri and Illinois. Listed on the New York Stock Exchange, it operates through Ameren Missouri, Ameren Illinois and a transmission business, serving about 2.5 million electric and over 900,000 natural gas customers, and it runs the Callaway nuclear plant in central Missouri. It hires electrical and mechanical engineers, system protection and distribution operating staff, gas apprentices and journeymen, safety supervisors, regulatory and rate analysts, strategists and paralegals.
