American Express Technology is the engineering organisation of the payments company American Express, responsible for the platforms behind card authorisation, fraud detection, servicing and the membership rewards programme. Its teams build risk and decisioning systems, machine learning models applied to transaction data, mobile and web experiences for card members and merchants, and the internal data and cloud infrastructure that carries them. Engineering staff are distributed across technology centres in the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Spain and Mexico, and recruit under the same corporate careers system as the rest of the company.
