Overview
JioStar is an Indian media company created in 2024 by merging Reliance's Viacom18 with Disney's Star India, producing the largest television and streaming business in the country by audience. It operates around a hundred television channels across languages alongside the JioHotstar streaming service, and it holds the Indian Premier League cricket rights that are the single most valuable media property in India. Headquartered in Mumbai and majority controlled by Reliance, it reaches several hundred million viewers and competes with Netflix and Amazon on price as much as on content.
