Overview
Letta is a company founded in 2023 by University of California, Berkeley researchers behind the MemGPT project on long-term memory for language models. Its open-source framework and cloud service give agents persistent memory that survives beyond a context window, with tooling to inspect and edit what an agent remembers. The project is widely used by developers building assistants that must retain state over months.
