M-KOPA is an African asset-financing fintech based in Nairobi, Kenya, that sells smartphones, solar home systems, electric motorbikes, health cover and digital loans to everyday earners on instalment plans paid daily through mobile money. Founded in 2010, it serves more than 10 million customers across Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, has unlocked over 2 billion dollars in credit, works with more than 35,000 sales agents and assembles smartphones locally.
