Overview
Midjourney is an independent research laboratory whose text to image models set the visual quality benchmark for generative imagery for several years. Its products run inside a community platform where millions of users generate and refine images together, an unusual distribution choice that shaped the culture around generative art. The company remains self funded, has never raised outside venture capital and operates with a very small research team; its models are trained and served entirely on infrastructure the company controls.
