Overview
Naver is a South Korean internet company founded in 1999 that runs the dominant search engine and web portal in its home market, one of the few countries where Google is not the leading search provider. Its portal bundles search with news, shopping, blogging, maps and the Naver Cafe community platform, while Naver Webtoon turned vertical-scrolling digital comics into a global format now serving audiences far beyond Korea. The company also operates a large cloud division, co-controls LY Corporation in Japan alongside SoftBank, and develops the HyperCLOVA X family of Korean-language foundation models.
