Overview

Pismo is a Brazilian cloud banking platform founded in São Paulo in 2016 that provides core processing for card issuing, digital accounts, wallets and merchant acquiring through APIs. Its architecture is multi-tenant and event driven, which lets banks and fintechs launch card and account products without running their own mainframe core, and it processes issuing and acquiring volumes for institutions across Latin America, Asia and Europe. Visa acquired the company in 2023 for about one billion dollars and has continued to operate it as a standalone platform serving clients that compete with Visa's own issuers.
