Overview
Taara is an optical wireless communications company that spun out of Alphabet's X moonshot factory in 2025. Its Taara Lightbridge terminals transmit data at up to 20 gigabits per second over a narrow beam of light across distances of up to 20 kilometres, giving telecom operators and internet providers a fibre alternative where trenching cable is too slow or costly, and it develops photonic chips to shrink the system. The company is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, United States.
