Overview
Voyage AI is an American company founded in 2023 by researchers from Stanford and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that builds embedding and reranking models for retrieval. Its models turn text, code, images and documents into vectors tuned for search quality rather than general language generation, with domain-specific variants for law, finance and code that consistently rank near the top of retrieval benchmarks. MongoDB acquired the company in 2025 and now offers the models alongside its database, so that vector search and the operational data it retrieves from sit in the same platform.
