Middle Technical Writer
About the role
We're looking for a Technical Writer to own the documentation experience for our developer-facing platform. You'll build and maintain the knowledge base end to end - from information architecture and style standards to the guides, API references, and video scripts that developers actually use. This is a role for someone who enjoys turning complex cloud and API concepts into clear, well-structured content, and who treats documentation as a product with users, metrics, and a roadmap.
What you'll do
Content
- Write and edit developer guides, API documentation, release notes, and tutorials for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Break down cloud architectures, microservices, and REST APIs into clear, digestible explanations
- Write scripts for how-to videos and partner with the marketing team to produce video tutorials
Structure & standards
- Create, organize, and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base, keeping all documentation current and accurate
- Establish and maintain style guides, templates, and documentation best practices for consistency across all content
- Design and optimize site structure and navigation to improve findability and user experience
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain the documentation toolchain (static site generators, version control, CI/CD)
Collaboration & impact
- Work with software engineers and product managers to elicit technical detail and validate accuracy
- Plan, track, and deliver content milestones using Agile workflows and ticketing systems
- Use analytics and user feedback to measure documentation impact, identify gaps, and continuously improve quality
- Monitor forums, support tickets, and community channels to spot recurring pain points and missing content
What we're looking for
-Experience - 3+ years designing, writing, and producing technical content for developers or IT professionals
- Documenting cloud platforms, APIs, developer tools, infrastructure services, or enterprise software
- Working closely with engineers, product managers, and technical stakeholders in fast-paced development environments
- Managing documentation projects across the full content lifecycle - planning, creation, publishing, and iteration
- Using documentation metrics, customer feedback, and support insights to drive content improvements
- Supporting developer communities through documentation, knowledge bases, forums, or self-service content
Skills
- Technical literacy: ability to read and understand basic code (Python, Java, JavaScript) and work directly with APIs and developer tools
- Version control: Git/GitHub for docs-as-code and collaborative workflows
- Markup: Markdown, reStructuredText, or similar lightweight markup languages
- API documentation: OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, or equivalent tools
- Documentation platforms: Document360, Confluence, ReadTheDocs, GitBook, or custom documentation sites
- SEO & analytics: solid grasp of SEO principles and hands-on experience with Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, English, Technical Communication, or a related field
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a portfolio of published technical documentation
