Costing Manager (m/f/d)

Are you an experienced cost engineering leader who combines technical depth with a strong customer focus? We are looking for a Costing Manager (m/f/d) for our Munich office. You will lead and develop a team of cost engineers, steer a portfolio of customer projects and ensure reliable delivery, high quality and actionable insights. In this role, you will work closely with Sales, customer program managers and regional leadership to turn complex cost and value-engineering questions into tangible customer outcomes.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of cost engineers, building technical expertise, ownership and a collaborative, high-performing culture.
• Plan team capacity and assign projects based on priorities, required expertise and sustainable workloads.
• Manage a portfolio of costing, benchmarking, value-engineering and consulting projects from scoping through delivery.
• Ensure that project scope, milestones, budget and quality commitments are met, and intervene early when delivery is at risk.
• Review key analyses and deliverables, challenge assumptions and ensure consistent application of A2MAC1 methods, standards and tools.
• Partner with Sales and customer program managers to qualify opportunities, shape executable solutions and support account development.
• Track delivery, utilization, quality and customer feedback; communicate risks and corrective actions transparently to regional leadership.
• Capture client and market needs and contribute to improvements in methods, tools, reusable consulting assets and team capabilities.

Requirements

• A degree in engineering or a comparable technical discipline.
• Several years of relevant experience in automotive cost engineering, value engineering, benchmarking, engineering services or technical consulting.
• Proven experience leading people and complex customer projects in an international environment.
• Sound knowledge of product costing, manufacturing processes and cost drivers; broad interest in automotive technologies and domains.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, make sound decisions and resolve risks pragmatically.
• Confident customer communication and the ability to explain complex evidence and recommendations to technical and senior stakeholders.
• A hands-on leadership style, commercial awareness and a strong focus on quality and customer outcomes.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; experience with project management tools & AI usage is an advantage.
• Professional proficiency in English; German or another European language is an advantage.
