EV Technician (Electrical)

About the Role

Sparrow Mobility is seeking a skilled EV Technician (Electrical) to support the installation, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of electric vehicles and EV charging systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical systems, EV powertrains, battery systems, and diagnostic tools, along with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair electrical and electronic systems in electric vehicles
• Inspect, test, and maintain EV battery packs, BMS, inverters, motors, and charging systems
• Troubleshoot high-voltage and low-voltage electrical faults using diagnostic tools and software
• Install, commission, and maintain EV charging infrastructure (AC/DC chargers)
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance in line with OEM standards
• Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
• Ensure strict compliance with EV safety standards and high-voltage protocols (Lock-out/Tag-out)
• Document service activities, fault reports, and maintenance records accurately
• Support field operations, breakdown response, and customer technical support when required
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to improve system performance and reliability
• Stay updated with EV technology developments and industry best practices

Educational Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma, OND, HND, or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, or related field
• 3-5 years hands-on experience working with EVs or advanced electrical automotive systems
• Strong understanding of high-voltage DC/AC systems (400V+), EV architectures, and power electronics
• Experience with EV diagnostics tools, testing equipment, and software
• Solid knowledge of lithium-ion batteries and Battery Management Systems (BMS)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation

• High-voltage safety awareness and compliance
• Electrical wiring, harnessing, and system integration
• Use of multimeters, insulation testers, oscilloscopes, and scan tools
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Attention to detail and safety consciousness
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Good communication and documentation skills

Certifications (Added Advantage)

• EV/Hybrid Vehicle Certification
• High-Voltage Safety Certification
• OEM EV training (Tesla, BYD, Nissan, Hyundai, etc.)
• Electrical safety or industrial electrical certification

• Number of EVs serviced or repaired per period
• First-Time Fix Rate (FTFR)
• Mean Time to Diagnose (MTTD)
• Compliance with high-voltage safety procedures
• Diagnostic accuracy rate
• Battery system health improvement rate
• Charger installation and commissioning success rate
• Accuracy and timeliness of service documentation
• Number of safety incidents or near misses
