The Opportunity

As the Operation Specialist (R&D), you will conduct process change impact assessments to support smooth and compliant pilot plant operations. You will initiate and support change control activities, assist with internal and external audits, help manage exception and deviation reports, drive efficiency improvements through continuous improvement initiatives, contribute to process and formulation development through Technical Review Board (TRB) activities, and leverage data analytics, predictive modeling, and AI-enabled tools to support process optimization, formulation development, decision-making, and product commercialization success.

What You’ll Do

  • Support manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with global quality standards, including preparation for internal and external audits, conducting GMP walkdowns, and driving timely closure of identified gaps.
  • Lead and maintain the APP GMP program, ensuring documentation, systems, and operational practices remain compliant with GMP requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments and support the development, revision, and maintenance of SOPs for process equipment, operational workflows, and maintenance activities.
  • Support investigations of safety and quality events, including documentation, tracking, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Assist in the timely manufacture of research prototypes and pilot-scale products while ensuring alignment with GMP requirements and project objectives.
  • Analyze process and manufacturing data to identify trends, drive operational improvements, and support data-driven decision making.
  • Support pilot plant trials, process characterization studies, and scale-up activities by coordinating operational execution, documenting observations, and identifying opportunities to improve process robustness and manufacturability.
  • Support APP Process Engineer in Technical Review Board (TRB) activities by providing operational insights on formulation and process development projects, while leveraging pilot plant data to improve scale-up predictability and commercial manufacturing readiness.
  • Support the application of predictive models, digital tools, and AI-enabled technologies to enhance process understanding, formulation development, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and internal/external stakeholders, fostering strong partnerships and ensuring timely, accurate communication to support operational and business objectives.
  • Support Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) initiatives, including participation in risk assessments, Management of Change (MOC), and MTZ-related activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and operational excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including support for operational budget tracking, service contract administration, onboarding and training coordination, and review of production documentation for completeness and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Relevant experience or academic background in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Process Technology, Food Technology, Process Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in manufacturing, pilot plant, process development, formulation development, or regulated environments and good knowledge of GMP, change management, investigations, and risk assessment will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to prepare clear reports and presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving and basic decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze operational issues effectively.
  • Solid organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail and clarity.
  • A proactive team player with a strong sense of initiative and accountability.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and maintain focus in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in any discipline, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Process Technology, or Food Technology.
  • Minimum diploma qualification with at least 2 years of relevant operational or technical experience in a regulated or process-based environment.
