Software Engineer III

The Software Engineer III is a senior-level engineer responsible for designing, developing, and delivering complex software solutions that power AbsenceSoft's platform. This role requires deep technical expertise, sound architectural judgment, and the ability to operate with substantial autonomy across cross-functional initiatives. Working closely with product management and engineering leadership, the Software Engineer III drives technical strategy, elevates engineering standards, and shapes how teams build and scale software. This role also carries a meaningful mentorship responsibility, coaching junior and mid-level engineers and helping raise the bar across the broader team. The ideal candidate pairs strong technical craftsmanship with clear communication and a genuine passion for building resilient, scalable systems. Above all, we're looking for someone who thrives on solving hard problems and takes ownership of outcomes from design through delivery.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and development of complex software components and systems.
• Drive architectural decisions and contribute to technical strategy.
• Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers.
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
• Partner with product management and other stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve system performance and scalability.
• Participate in a highly compliant environment while assisting to maintain company controls and security within your job role.
• Assist in maintaining applicable organizational security and compliance controls within your department, role, and subordinate's roles.
• Other duties as assigned.

What'll Set You Up for Success

Required Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
• Strong knowledge of system architecture, design patterns, and scalability principles.
• Ability to independently lead technical initiatives and deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

Preferred:

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with SaaS platforms, distributed systems, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.

Final compensation is determined based on a candidate's relevant experience, skills, education, and geographic location. This position is also eligible for annual bonus.
