We are seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Commis III - Pastry to join our culinary team at SO/ Uptown Dubai. In this role, you will support the Pastry team in the preparation and presentation of high-quality desserts, pastries, and baked goods, ensuring consistency, creativity, and adherence to our exceptional culinary standards.
Assist in the preparation and production of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and other baked goods according to established recipes and quality standards.
Support the Pastry Chef and senior team members in daily pastry kitchen operations, including mise en place and preparation for service.
Accurately measure, mix, and prepare ingredients while following standard recipes and portion specifications.
Assist in the decoration, finishing, and presentation of desserts and pastries to ensure consistency and visual appeal.
Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic pastry workstation, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
Ensure proper handling, labeling, storage, and rotation of ingredients and finished products in accordance with FIFO procedures.
Monitor ingredient usage and minimize food waste while maintaining product quality.
Assist in the preparation of pastry items for à la carte dining, buffets, banquets, and special events.
Ensure pastry equipment, tools, and utensils are used correctly, cleaned, and maintained in good working condition.
Collaborate with the Pastry team and other kitchen departments to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of products.
Support stock control activities, including inventory checks and reporting low-stock items to senior team members.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn new pastry techniques, develop culinary skills, and contribute to a positive and collaborative kitchen environment.
High school diploma or equivalent; certification in Pastry or Culinary Arts preferred.
1-2 years of pastry experience in a hotel, bakery, or high-volume kitchen.
Basic knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and dessert presentation.
Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality and consistency.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Passion for pastry arts and willingness to learn and develop.
