Job Description:
The Senior Cloud Engineer designs, builds, automates, and supports secure, scalable, and resilient cloud platforms on AWS. This role partners with Cloud Operations, Information Security, DevOps, application engineering, database, and architecture teams to deliver reliable infrastructure and enable efficient software delivery. The position is accountable for AWS infrastructure engineering, Amazon EKS and container platforms, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, CI/CD automation, cloud networking, security guardrails, observability, and operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and support secure, scalable, highly available AWS cloud infrastructure that aligns with enterprise architecture, security, and operational standards.
- Engineer and manage containerized platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon EKS, ensuring reliability, scalability, performance, and operational excellence across production environments.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, creating reusable modules, automation frameworks, and standardized deployment patterns that improve consistency and reduce manual effort.
- Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and related DevOps tools to enable automated testing, security validation, deployment, and release management.
- Architect and support AWS networking solutions including VPCs, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, Route 53, VPN connectivity, and load balancing services to ensure secure and resilient connectivity.
- Implement cloud security controls, governance standards, and compliance requirements through IAM, AWS Organizations, Service Control Policies (SCPs), KMS, Secrets Manager, GuardDuty, Security Hub, and AWS Config.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and continuously improve cloud platform reliability through observability, incident response, root cause analysis, disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and operational automation.
- Collaborate with Application Development, DevOps, Security, Database, and Cloud Operations teams to deliver cloud solutions, support modernization initiatives, establish engineering standards, and drive continuous improvement across the cloud platform.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or relevant experience may be substituted for formal education.
- 7+ years of infrastructure, cloud engineering, or platform engineering experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience supporting enterprise environments.
- Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Hands-on experience building and managing Kubernetes platforms, preferably Amazon EKS.
- Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of DevOps, GitOps, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Strong scripting skills using Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Experience supporting highly available, production-grade cloud environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance optimization skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience designing and supporting AWS networking architectures utilizing Transit Gateway (TGW), Cloud WAN, Site-to-Site VPN, Direct Connect, Route 53, and hybrid-cloud connectivity solutions.
- Experience establishing API management standards using Amazon API Gateway, including authentication, authorization, throttling, monitoring, versioning, and security controls.
- Experience implementing and managing identity and access management solutions using Amazon Cognito, including User Pools, Identity Pools, federation, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and single sign-on (SSO) integrations.
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified Advanced Networking - Specialty, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, or Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
- Experience implementing enterprise observability and monitoring solutions using Datadog, including infrastructure monitoring, application performance monitoring (APM), logging, alerting, dashboards, and operational analytics.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $103,500 - $138,000. Pay will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education and training. This position may also be eligible for an annual performance-based bonus, commission, or other variable pay plan.
